Cross TA 36 month service actions

Eh up all,

I’ve had my 66 plate TA Cross 4x4 now for a couple of years, it’s got 9.5k on the clock.

Just figured out I missed last years service :bang:so only had the one since 2017 at 5k

Not done much over last 24 months as used other car.

I don’t generally stick with main dealers post warranty period and as I missed the 24 months one see little point in going there.

I do however do my own service one most of my motors, intend to change

Oil
Oil filter
Air filter
Plugs

I’ve checked and stripped brakes and discs there spot on.

I know about the critical nature of the oil for the TA and use the Selena, but will consider options to the correct spec.

Owt else anyone thinks I should change.

I’m familiar with fiats as had the all the previous 4x4 models, plus daughters got a 500 ( that things permanently been repaired by me !!!(n))

Any advice welcome

Cheers in advance

Welcome to the other side. Parts peanuts. Plugs don't need doing until at least 2020 despite schedule saying every other year. Brake fluid important. Mine so much better now. Pollen filter and air con regas crucial. Any 0w 30 C2/C3 oil should be fine. Not done mine any harm.

Cheers mate, good point on pollen filter.

Interesting point on plugs - might just strip out and clean then

I’m assuming there’s nothing untoward on the general service aspects - all filters easily accessed etc

Cheers again

See what tagged you in. Don't go near plugs unless swapping. Apparently quite fragile. Some good deals though. Pollen filter peanuts but check dimensions. 2wd TA one won't fit. Procedure a pig my mate can testify. 40 min job.

Mmmm

Interesting - did my mates e53 air filter - took me 1.5 hours half the b188dy engine had to come out. Guess I’m sorted to try doing the little Cross.

Will just look at the plugs first - need to sus out what the crack is with these, didn’t expect to hear that .

Cheers again

Oops. Bang goes your warranty.

The OEM plugs are made of cheese, but yours should still be OK. as you've done less than 10k miles. Mine's not needed an aircon regas in 4.5 years and nearly 50k miles. (In fact, I've never had a regas done on any car, including ones that have had 100k miles and 8+ years under their belts.)

Maybe get an ink stamp for your service book and keep all paperwork. Handy if sold car later TTR

Never had air con recharge on any car... 2010 Volvo still chilling well, and three Panda 4x4 all worked fine without attention (apart from replaced filters).
In spite of what KwikFit say, in principle there is no need for a recharge unless the system has leaked. And that should not happen unless something (usually the compressor seal) has worn out. (You don't see office aircon systems being 'recharged' every two years)
I might suggest they are saying this as they can then charge you £130 for something that costs them maybe £20... a bit like the 'workshop sundries' or 'screenwash' the main dealers add to every service bill (even though mine always goes in with completely a full screenwash bottle)
