Will it fit... 40Ē TV

Iím planning a trip over to Chester to bring my brothers things back from his house. I donít have split fold seats, but the biggest area of concern is his 40Ē TV, one of the few items that canít really be thrown out and replaced so easily. As I await for him to eventually get the tape measure out and find out 100%, Iím wondering...

Have any of you moved a 40Ē TV in the Panda? Would it fit in the boot without folding the seats? Iím aware that could be an insane notion but the Panda is surprising sometimes... IF NOT, Iíll need to fold the seats but then the gf canít come for the road trip! Sad times if so..

Re: Will it fit... 40Ē TV

If you can find out the make and model, you should be able to get the dimensions online and then you'll be able to find out for yourself
I doubt it'll fit though, it would definitely fit sat upright on the back seats, or flat with the seats down, but the boot is narrower because of the wheel wells.

I tried this, but itís a Polaroid (Asda branded) 40Ē non smart TV from circa 2016, all theyíve got online for support is a hotline. Guess I should give it a call later. Looks like Iíll be sailing across on my own though should the boot not be big enough. Thanks for your reply

FWIW, we did get an LG 43" into the back of a 500 but only with the seats down and the TV laying flat.

Moved a 50" with the back seat down. Took the stand off first so it would lie flat on a bit of carpet.
There was plenty of room.

I can't see how you'd get this into a Panda without folding the rear seats (unless yours came with the optional 'Tardis' feature, of course )

Re: Will it fit... 40Ē TV

That 40" will be the diagonal of the screen... I reckon that makes a total width of about 35 inches, which is not likely to fit in the boot 'widthwise'. There is a slim chance that it might fit if you put is 90degrees round? Push the headrests down, post tv up into the space above the seats and lower it down into the boot... it will be a tight fit if it does go in that way!

Likewise, it might go 'on end' on the rear seat?

Donít worry guys, itís booked for FRIDAY. Me and a friend are going over, with my brother then joining us.

He measured the TVand other items, they fit into the back seat sideways from the floor to roof kind of arrangement at an angle. We made cardboard box models and fitted them in to be sure.

Itíll be a tight one, but Iíll post pictures. The Panda truly is a remarkable, practical little machine .... IF my calculations are right. Lol

All together now...

Right said Fred
Have to take the doors off
Need more space to shift the so-and-so
Had bad twinges
Taking off the hinges
And it got us nowhere
And so, we, had a cup of tea

Can you not unbolt the rear seat and turn it into a van?

Re: Will it fit... 40Ē TV

Of course it will fit. Even with the solid back seats, they do need to be down though. Just make sure you do not stress the screen as they are fragile and not cost effective to replace. The stuff I've carried in both the lounge and the cross is actually quite remarkable.
