Hi Folks,
I'm replacing my 2013 4x4 with a new cross 4x4. On my exiting car I have a set of roof bars supplied by FIAT and with a Panda logo on them. My understanding from previous threads is that these bars will not fit my new car (due to the two locating pegs that the Cross does not have holes for). Also with the cross having a higher mounting point (raised roof rails), I'd like to minimize the extra height provided by the roof bars if possible.

I've been looking at these bars: https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/FIAT-Panda...s-Bar-Rack-75-Kg-Loading-Capacity/19006758623

These seem to have the desired lower height, but I'm not sure if they will actually fit! Anyone have any experience or know of a similar product that will definitely fit? Other than simply grinding off the pegs (which will not help reduce the height), is it possible to reuse my existing bars at all perhaps with replacement mounting hardware (so just reusing the centre aluminium bar)?

Thanks!

They look good from the pics. I'm not speaking from personal experience as my panda is astandard 4x4. But I've been checking out Cross roof bars, as I am thinking of ordering a Cross or another 4x4 for January.

The Thule Wingbar Edge do fit, and don't raise the height much above the panda's roofbars. Someone on the forum had a pair and sold them to another member. Part 9584 from Thule website. However, they are expensive. £300 list.

I'd be inclined to go from these on ebay - they look rather like the Thule ones, but are much better value. The vendor has a 30 day return policy, so if they don't fit perfectly, or you aren't 100% satisfied, just send them back.

And if you do get them, do report back. I'd be interested.

I looked at buying Thule roofbars when i got a 4x4 in 2014... but they were very expensive. It was actually cheaper to buy the 'genuine Fiat bars' from the dealer. Guess who makes those? Yes, Thule! Still using now on 2018 car

Not sure if the same holds true for the Cross with its non-flush roof rails...

I think they look OK. They’re not the wing profile, but are wide blades, and are silent on the motorway (unlike the square bars I had in a previous Panda). Nicely Panda badged on each support foot too, and sit well on the car.

I have the wing bars for my other car though...

So, I decided to get a set of the ebay roof bars. When they arrived I had a good look at them and did a quick test fit of one of the feet on my cross 4x4. The clamping mechanism uses a single bolt and is basically all plastic. It didn't really fit the profile of the Cross roof rails (even with the rubber moulding that comes with it in place). It would probably have been OK but I just didn't feel comfortable with it to be honest. As a result I've gone for a set of Thule Wingbar edge bars. These feel much more substantial and the fixed mechanism is much better. They also look good! Pity about the price (I actually got a set from Amazon Warehouse - damaged packaging - for £170).

Anyway thanks for the help...

I don't suppose there is anyone that wants a set of 4x4 FIAT supplied (with the Panda logo) roof bars? Free to anyone that will collect them (Leeds area)?

Would I be OK to post the above offer on the forum?
