Hi,

Has anyone replaced a lower front (N/S) suspension ball joint; would I want to do it on the drive with a decent trolly jack, axle stand etc?

63 plate 4x4 TA MOT failure.

Thanks for any shared experiences.

I have done this on other cars and it is usual to replace the complete control arm which comes with a new ball joint attached. The tracking WILL need to be checked afterwards. I would rather do the job inside in the warm and dry  With the correct tools takes about 2 hours. Don't ask me exactly how it's done on a Panda, I have never done one. :D

Thanks; spent the afternoon researching a little more.

On the basis that the arrangement is essentially 500 based then looks like (annoyingly) front bumper off, crash bar off, subframe support off then you can undo the front wishbone bolt. You can actually see the bolt head in the wheel arch without removing all this stuff but I'm guessing you can't get a spanner on it - even a ratchet ring? Any thoughts anyone?

Decided to do it myself since local garage guy started saying that 63 plate was crossover year between removable ball joint to complete wishbone replacement which I think is just wrong! Also swapping out discs which are flaky to say the least.
