My 2017 Panda TA Lounge is currently at the dealer for what they have called a service bulletin for the water pump. According to them this is a safety critical recall. Does anyone know about this? I've not been able to find any information online or this forum regarding a bulletin for water pumps. They're keeping it over night to replace the water pump.

They've given me a Panda TA Easy as a loaner while this work is carried out. This ones engine is noticeably smoother than mine and has appreciably better fuel economy.

I battle to get mine below 7.6l/100km even using ECO mode most of the time. This one is doing 7.2l/100km with ECO mode off and not driving particularly economically.

This one is also happy to potter along in 5th gear at 70kph while mine vibrates badly at anything below 90kph in 5th gear. In fact on mine if I follow the shift indicator I get unpleasant vibrations under 2700rpm. The loaner one can happily potter along in 5th gear at 2000rpm in top gear.

I've asked the dealer to check if my car is due for any software updates that may improve the situation. Does anyone know if there have been any software updates available that would improve the characteristics I've described above?

I have had two TA Pandas albeit 2017 and 2019.First was MUCH smoother and quieter but also much less economical. 35 - 41 mpg as opposed to 45- 52. The new car is also notably quicker being quite OK in eco mode and modestly rapid in normal mode.

It interesting to note the huge differences and I wonder what the life span will be. I sold the last one because of mayo in the oil filler at a level I did not think acceptable although dealers all said it was normal. There is none in the new one! It has a full 5 year warranty......

I suspect fiddling is going on in the ecu but the tyres may also have a substantial effect.

My Bravo ( recently deceased - noisy gearbox bearings at 101K) did 10 mpg better on Bridgestone's than Continental tyres!

Still love Pandas and cant think of anything else I want.

New (14) 1.2 is a gem very smooth and 50mpg minimum so far. I think its my favourite. I prefer the normal feel of the engine even if its a lot slower.

Will be speaking to the dealer on monday re the pump. Thanks for the heads up

I noticed the same. The older car has a much softer power delivery. The new car would surge forward noticeably once the turbo came onto full boost. The old car seems to have a more linear power delivery. I did also notice that the older car is more refined but doesn't seem to like running at low revs in 5th. The newer car was happier to do so.

I see the type of dual mass flywheel was changed during 2017 which also might have something to do with it.

The dealer did a proxy alignment on my car which I don't feel has changed anything.

My significant other has a 500 1.2 and it's dog slow in comparison to the TA but very much smoother and calmer.
