Hi,

I'm trading in my current Panda Cross for a new Cross via the Affinity Scheme and it is now ready to collect :) The original salesman who I dealt with (who has since left the dealership) saif a copy of my partner's ID card would suffice as proof of eligibility for the scheme but I have no since been told that we need to provide an affinity code from her employer (no idea how to get that!) so was wondering if this was standard practice?

Thanks

They'd want some proof of eligibility I guess yes. That could be proof of a qualifying employment or just the membership number if you're in the FIAT Motor club (which costs £30).

Although I qualify, I've never used the Affinity Scheme to purchase a car. Instead, I have used it for bargaining to get at least the same discount on a new car. In case my bluff has ever been called, I did look at how the scheme works. In essence, the code is obtained from inputting information into the following website:-

https://www.fiatgroupsales.com/

The details you need to provide depend on how you qualify, eg through employer or professional memberships, so you will need to have the appropriate information available.

However, the actual application can be done either by you directly or on your behalf by the retailer. It would seem from your post that you were expecting the latter and suggest the retailer is asked to honour this.

Have you qualified via the NHS?

I originally had to supply my ID, which they copied and my NHS assignment number (on pay slips) to go on file.

Since then, they've never asked again for them.

The Mrs had the same with Motorsource, copy of ID and assignment number.

Thanks, all, now sorted. The dealership gave me the link that I needed to input the info and generate the code they needed. My partner qualifies via the NHS. When I was doing a bit of research the savings of purchasing new were such that it made sense financially to buy new rather than nearly new, as purchasing outright and not on finance.
