Time's come for our lads Pop to be MOT'd again so I've started to give it the once other.

Everything looks pretty good, a quick oil and filter change, brakes ok, tyres good, wipers fairly new and clearing the screen.

Ok, there is some knocking/clonking from the front, looks/sounds like the ARB droplinks as it's knocking low down and it feels like it's across both sides.
I've got some new links to fit this afternoon.

The main trouble is, the offside DRL bulb keeps blowing almost instantly.
There's an issue with the bulb holder, one of the contacts inside it has started to burn away and a chunk of the thin metal contact strip is missing.

Had a quick look at a replacement, but you need to buy the complete light unit just to get the holder, bugger.

Then it came to me, for the MOT I could just borrow one from the Mother in Laws Panda while I routed out one from a breaker.

Turns out her's is just as bad, the bulb is blown in her's too and the holders melting away in the same spot on the same contact.

Oddly, it's both offsides that are giving trouble, the nearsides look ok.

Im not sure the DRLs have to work for the MOT.

I Know on the Punto you can turn them off in the dash.

If you can, maybe turn them off for the MOT and sort the out later. ?

Trouble is if they don't work they flag a warning light on the dash, which the MOT will pick up.

I have cleaned up what's left of the contact and so far the bulb hasn't blown.
Might try and build up the hole with a blob of solder if it goes again soon.

I've swapped both droplinks out and it's all quiet again, MOT tomorrow, it'll fly through no worries!

No, can't turn off via any in-car menus on the Panda.
Since same lamp is also the sidelight (different filament but same bulb), they have to work.

[edit: sorry - see this repeats an earlier answer... ]
