General FIAT Panda Trussardi (2019)

Available for ordering in Belgium, 14500€, as far as I could see (keeping in mind the Fiat configurator is notably unreliable) nothing to configure.

1.2l, 69hp, 5 speed. Pricewise between normal Panda and the City Cross.

Given that brown/black are fashion colours now, that Trussardi is not unknown as a brand here "on the continent", and the Panda is one of the best city cars I've been in, I think it'll sell rather better than the forum here expects.

I was also thinking it would do rather well on the continent (as opposed to the UK) as their fashion tastes are different.

Having said that, I rather like the overall look except for the meerkat on a stick!

It's a bit like the logo for the 2012 Olympics. Once you've seen it as Lisa and Bart, you just can't unsee it!

And it looks much more like a meerkat on a stick than a dog, tbf.

Logo actually is a stilised greyhound, the (horrible) video ad for the car has a greyhound in it as well :)
Just found out Trussardi is doing a "Panda" capsule collection as well, so marketing effort on both sides.

The 2012 Mini Cooper Olympic special edition had a huge Olympics logo on the roof, virtually every owner (my wife included) had the logo removed due to it being ugly. The other logos where small and you didn’t really notice them, they only made 2012 of the cars and they are now highly sought after as they where full of top kit for the year, now sell for twice the equivalent mini of the same year and eBay is full of car dealers claiming their mini is an Olympic special edition to try and bump the price.

Fiat did the Gucci 500, lots of ques back to Gucci, the stripe on the seats, the embossed Gucci leathers the seatbelts, kick plates, special wheels and the exterior Gucci decals, people still love them and they are selling for silly money, however diesel 500s are not as popular, neither is the GQ models. There are plenty of special editions about what made the mini Olympics and Gucci cars so popular is that they where the best of their time, this panda is already not a prestige car compared to the trendy 500 back in 2011/12 and it’s brown, brown inside and out and trusardia is virtually non existent in the U.K. it is very unlikely this will sell well and expect values to fall like a rock.

I don't think UK is a key market for this model :). I had a good look at one today at the dealer, when bringing my Panda Cross in for service. It does look quite good in the flesh, only thing I really don't like are the branded seat belts.
Wouldn't mind having the black wheels on my Cross, even.

In itself, the Panda Trussardi is different, whether you like it or not.
It is such a version that will eventually become/be rare.

Just a photo shop where I lowered it, because it is just too high on its legs.
They are 2-wheel drive Pandas, which you do not go off-road with, so it can go down.

With an 85 hp TwinAir turbo engine I would still like to buy one, then it will drive a bit sportier.
The standard 15 inch wheels I would make Matt or Satin black (less bling) and use them as winter wheels.
In the summer I would drive on 17 inch wheels and also in the color black, fits better with the whole.

I have looked around for Trussardi's, but i highly doubt you could find one with 85 TwinAir engine, in mainland Europe.
When the Trussardi was announced it could be ordered with either 1.2ltr 8v FIRE motor, or with the 85 TwinAir engine.
The Trussardi's that are around have either the 1.2ltr 8v FIRE, or the new 3 cylinder Hybrid motor. (n)

Had a quick look here in the uk, 35 of them on autotrader, all of them either 1.2 or the 1.0 hybrid, are you sure they came with the twinair?

Makes me think they are still making them if they come with the hybrid also they stopped selling the twinair on new cars quite a while ago now in the uk so I’m not sure they were ever sold here with that engine.

I also think they stopped the twinair across Europe at he same time which is why I question if this model ever shipped with that engine

When they where introduced, they where said to be available with 85TA.
But when they came on sale they all got the engines you mentioned, first the 1.2 FIRE and later on the new Hybrid.

The 85TA engine is stil available, "but" only for the 4x4 Panda's.
The engine's you mentioned are useless for Panda 4x4 use, not powerful enough.

I don’t believe these will ever be so “rare” or desirable as to become valuable, they still seem to be making them and here in the uk brown cars are deeply unpopular, they are available in white as well I see now which doesn’t really suite, they are also a mix of normal panda and panda cross parts which on a 4x4 to have extra spotlights and the more rounded bumper on the front to reduce the arrival angle for the 4x4 just don’t look right on that car with the brown and the black wheels.

The RRP here is supposed to be £15k I see that most dealers have massively discounted them to about £12k and cars that are a year old are selling for £10k with 5000 miles on the clock, so if someone paid full price for those cars they lost a third of their value in just a year.

Add in the hybrid engine and I think they will be even more unpopular, they certainly don’t have the looks of credibility of something like the Gucci 500 model Trussardi are virtually unheard of in many parts of Europe. Diesel models of the 500 had a more rugged look that reflected the diesel brand. The GQ 500 was designed to be more sophisticated. It seems weird that they went for the panda firstly and then brown.

I’m guessing in Italy where Trussardi are popular and pandas are very very popular it will be very well received, in the uk and I’d also guess france and Germany at least, I’d say it would end up a bit of a bargain bin car, ok in other parts of Europe though as they can be moved to countries where they might better sell, here with our right hand drive cars they will just stay here and get cheap

That is why all the new Panda's are not interesting at all, with there very weak engines.
A 85TA is just the bare minimum you need in a Panda.

I’d still take a late model 1.3 multijet 4x4 from about 2017/18 when they stopped using the multijet entirely just for the diesel torque and 4x4 combo but yes the other engines are pretty under powered, even 85hp is not a lot when you consider years ago we used to have say a 1.6 mk1 Focus with maybe 100hp in a car which weighed probably about the same as a modern panda.

My current punto weight about the same if not more than my 90s Ford Mondeo, actually I think the current panda is probably about the same length as the old mk1 Punto. Certainly cars have gotten a lot bigger and heavier but the hp hasn’t kept up with the weight gain

Nope, not even by a long shot.
The new Panda need the new GSE-Firefly 999cc 3T 120 hp motor.
