Over stuffed the glove box and as a result couldn’t open it.
Whilst its open it now, I’ve managed to stress the handle mechanism so need to replace it.
Unfortunately I can’t see how to dismantle.
Anyone else managed this or is it a whole lid replacement?

Ok, let’s try a different approach.
Does anyone know how to remove the glovebox assembly or perhaps a parts breakdown list of the dashboard area for a 2015 Panda?

If it's of any help here's an exploded parts diagram for the glovebox ...

That’s really helpful - thanks for that.
I managed to get the whole assembly out this morning and it supports what I feared. The handle is sandwiched between an inner and outer skin so you can’t remove it without wrecking the whole thing. Luckily the catch is still just about connected to lever as it’s a stress fracture so I’m going to try to glue and reinforce the area first.
If not it’s going to be around £60 to replace the whole lid.
Odd thing is that the car was in for a service and I’d taken the service book out so the garage wouldn’t forget to stamp it. It wasn’t until it came back that I noticed it was jammed.
I’m assuming it was me as I can’t think of any reason for the garage to be working around it for the service?

Strange that it jammed just after it came back from the garage ... though as you say no reason for them to be in there ... a weird coincidence?

Hope the reinforcement / glue works ... certainly worth a try if the alternative is a new lid at £60 ... though you might be able to source a second-hand one on eBay (from someone breaking a similar Panda if none are listed individually).

I have some glue that works total miracles on anything black plastic. I will find it and post the name. Its a two part based on superglue and works like nothing I have ever experienced. `It works instantly and seems stronger after repair than before on everything I have tried it on. Bought off the net.

I love a good bodge...:D
Job done with some gorilla glue and a piece of a metal picture hook to provide additional support.
As good as new (providing you don’t look up if you stick your head in the footwell).

Can I resurrect this thread - link to parts diagram seems not to work

Anyone have any suggestions on if the door alone can come off or the whole assembly needs removing prior to glueing door handle

Or even how much the basic replacement part costs

Thanks

If I remember correctly the whole unit has to come out as the pin holding the front panel (with the handle on it)is too long to be pulled out in situ.
From memory, you remove the fabric covering in the footwell, which will reveal the bolts holding the assembly in place. I cant remember if I had to remove other plastic panels to see all the bolts.
There's a couple at the bottom and some inside the glovebox. I think there is an electrical connection to the glovebox light to remove as you withdraw it. Once out you should be able to remove the hinge pin to separate the glovebox lid.
It looked to me that the latch assembly is sandwiched between the inner and outer skins so there's no way to get to it without wrecking the lid.
I found gluing the latch only worked for a while so ended up drilling and using a black self-tapping screw to hold it in place.
It's certainly not pretty but seems to be holding.
