flooded panda passenger air bag light on

Hi unfortunately my car got flooded and ever since then the passengers airbag light is lit. any ideas of what to do in regards? saw two options one was checking with a computer to see if it's something minor and the other was changing a part completely. trying not to spend a lot of money fixing this, anyone have a similar experience or knowledge about fixing this? anything else you would suggest after flooding? car seems to be working fine just when i start it, it make a squealing sound which i think it the belt. Thanks in advance.

May be able to get a cheap code reader/resetter or a local garage should have one. They can tell the fault and reset it or tell you what the problem may be.

The squealing...........ahhh. We once went through a very deep puddle and end up with squealing. That ended up meaning a new alternator, which was £150 fitted. Again - local trusted garage.

Re: flooded panda passenger air bag light on

The box full of electronics that controls the air bags (and various other safety systems, such as the seatbelt pre-tensioners) is located on the floor of the car... ( I think under teh heater system, and other parts in the plastic boxes on the floor just in front of the front seats). So if it has been flooded with water, this may well have been affected or even damaged, and you do need to have a dealer check it for you. If it was damaged by a flood caused by bad weather while parked, your insurance may cover the repair cost? (although less likely if you actually drove through a flood)

Hi.
Not sure what the dealer network is like in Panama..

But plugging a device into the diagnostic port.. should give an indication of the problem.
MultiECUScan is good. Anf can be run on a laptop
At 7 years old.. there should be a reasonable chance of locating good used parts for replacement.

Good luck..and tell us what you find

Could be side impact sensor that has been soaked. These normally live low down on the inner sill below carpet level. I'd be removing the carpet and making sure all is dry and connectors are good with no signs of corrosion on pins etcetera. WD40 is a water repellent and anti corrosion fluid. It is safe on electronics and electrical items contrary to what some believe
