Hi.
I have been toying with the idea of a City Cross. Today I went to Parks in East Kilbride and looked at a 67 plate City Cross in red with all the extras on offer. I was very impressed with the car and really like it. The downer for me was the trade in price of £3100 for my 2014 Lounge with 26,600 on the clock. I walked away. Now I have had issues with the dealer before and did a google review of only two stars. They were not long in contacting me and have now offered me £4000 for my car and £250 off the City Cross. It will be a cash sale and It looks as if I'll go for the deal.

Here is the car I was looking at

Is it petrol or diesel? I have a 2018 city cross diesel with 14000 km. No problems so far.

Hi.
It's the 1.2 Fire engine. I wouldn't buy a diesel these days as most of my running is fairly short, DPF issues would be a worry for me. Also the way things are going now they are getting slated so much I've no idea what the government will come up with next.

Yeah, thought of all that, but i do an excess of 60 km a day commuting in out of city conditions. Saved me a ton of money on fuel. Fortunately here in Greece they don't seem keen on increasing tax on newer diesels anytime soon. Only pay 80€ annually. I only need 60 a month on fuel. Insurance is 360 a year. How much did your dealer quote you?

Wish the diesels were 6speeds though the engine definitely can handle it.View attachment 1999871556700341203.jpegView attachment 199988

Yes it does look good indeed, I could only see one very small paint chip which will be sorted prior to collection. The mileage is a tad over 10,000 I think. It seems quieter than my 14 plate 1.2 but not anywhere near as quick. I'll be fitting new Denso Platinum plugs to it and my oil catch tank that I've removed from the old car.

The spec seems very good, it has leather on the doors, heated seats too so does that mean it has the winter pack? The options seem hard to decipher.

The car was a dealer Demo and the sales manager said it had all the possible extras?

Looks good Trevor. If has every option should have heated front screen, City Brake Control, DAB radio that sort of thing. Great value. Never seen a City Cross that cheap. If they were all priced at that for a 67 plate who knows may have had one. Like the raised driving position. Don't need the TA engine or 4x4 really. Just being able to cope with standing water.

Hi Al

Definitely got the DAB radio, Didn't notice the heated front screen, I take it the fine wires would have been noticeable? Being a demo it may have had some of its value written off to tax perhaps, certainly a good bargain.

Sounds like a good deal - I'm kind of half, kind of considering, kind of mulling over selling the 4x4 TA - great little car with 72k miles on the clock curently on its twelfth trip to Umbria - and getting a very recent (4x4) Cross; doing the diesel/petrol weghing up. Must be 4x4 for our Italian home. By the way, if you are this way in May, June, September, October, drop in.

Hi.
Well I love this car, really enjoying it. OK maybe a little slower but I'm sure it'll get better. I doesn't have the DAB radio but I do use Medium Wave for Caroline and up north where there is no DAB and even FM is poor. The Bluetooth works bang on, its imported the phone book and calls work perfectly on the move, I can hear the caller and the caller hears me too. The climate control is excellent and on Lo it gives a really good blast of cold air. The ride is less jiggly than my old Lounge and I also prefer the seat material and the leather too. I think I got a steal with the price and spec. One very happy bunny.

The real reason for changing my lounge that I really liked was that after my darling wife passed in January every time I drove the car I felt so down and lost without her, I eventually drove another car on my own to see how I felt, I was beginning to think it was me and that driving was now not a good option, but I was fine, felt OK without the bad feelings. I have to say that the Cross is just fine, no bad feelings of emptiness and loss. So for me this is a good result. I've a few trips now planned.

Sorry to hear of the sad feelings driving the older car, and really pleased that the new has helped you here.
Question: you said it had heated seats, but it appears not to have the heated windscreen that would go with them as part of the winter pack (if it did, the button for the heated rear window would also have a symbol for the front screen - although in fact it turns them both on together, so second symbol not really needed.)
The auto climate is one thing I woudl have liked on my 4x4 - I have it on our other car and find it really is a case of set (on 20 degrees and auto) and forget...

Hi.
Well the spec is not really what the dealer said. It isn't a problem to be fair and I am happy with what the car actually does have. I miss the two speakers in the rear doors that the lounge had, there is no underbonnet felt on the Cross and it makes the bonnet sound tinny when you close it. These are the omissions that really should be standard. I see the engine has an ABS cam cover now and this seems to reduce whine a good bit, the Alloy cam cover could amplify sounds whereas the ABS cover will damp sounds so a good move. All in all I think I got a good deal, even though there is no heated seats. Dealers I dunno.

Our Lounge has the heated screen but by then the single button only shows one symbol - you'll see the elements with close-up eyesight/glasses though. If you click the climate demist it chucks the aircon onto the window as well as heating it and thus demists in seconds. That said, with climate on it rarely mists anyway.

DAB radio in Derbyshire is also shaky so we stick to FM anyway.

No mention of the clutch switch I see........when we tested a 1.2 Waze a few months back it didn't really need disabling. Maybe yours is the same.

In my experience Euro6 and Hillholder means no problem with clutch switch. When I had Panda Lounge in 2017 the leather wheel and gearknob made car lot more relaxing to drive. 1st to 2nd could be done with palm of my hand. City Cross may be heavier Trevor. Super Unleaded works well. Generally on brand new my experience is gently run car in 2k-3k revs for first 1100 miles. Car starts to get quicker at 2k miles. The upholstery the City Cross shares with the 66 plate onward Lounge seems remarkably hard wearing. I was working in Royal Mail Warehouse at Christmas in jeans and it didn't get grubby.

The 14 plate Panda Easy I had may have got quicker at 5k miles ( I'd gone to Elvington for a track day) though was glad to be back in it to go home. :)

Hi.
No issues with the clutch switch, much better than the older lounge. The exhaust system is totally different as well. I'll get a look at the screen and see if it has the wires. Upholstery very nice and comfy, it looks nice with the leather.
