Hello everyone!

I think we've decided on a new panda ?, looking at a new panda cross with the twin air engine. We live in Cumbria and drive over fell roads for work every day (about 20 miles each way), although I'm unlikely to 'off road' with the panda the 4x4 seems to make sense. I think...

but I've a couple of questions...

- Is the Panda city cross available with the twin air engine? The fiat website suggests not, however that doesn't mean it isn't! What is missing from the city cross 4x4 compared to the cross?

- How does the privilege purchase scheme work? I think I'm eligible through British cycling (or other memberships I have) do I need to take my membership card to the dealer? Are all dealers happy to do the scheme (it's a very good discount!) It seems really hard to find concrete info about either the privilege scheme or the affinity scheme.

- Does anyone know the current delivery times for a new Panda? (Our current RAV4 is in the garage with potentially terminal injector issues...) It hopefully won't be too long a wait for a new car!

- Anything else I might need to know before buying into the Panda family?! Looking forward to it!

Thanks for your help

The Cross has 4x4, the City Cross doesn't! The City Cross also has drum brakes at the back, which is uncool but may not be a big deal in practice. The wildcard is that there is a current (?) promotion on a 4x4 special version of the 'Waze', which appears to be a TwinAir engine and 4x4 in a City Cross.

Ah! Thanks for that, I didn't get that the Waze was different than the city cross (I just assumed it was the same thing!) Bloody hell it's confusing! We'll hopefully pop into the dealer at the weekend to see what he knows... And see which versions are available.

Cheers!

Waze is 1.2 2WD with mock 4x4 looks, parking sensors, steel wheels and some GPS/social softwarethat is unlikely to tell you all about climbing the Cumbrian hills
£12300
£9600 (with Affinity scheme)

Waze 4x4 is the above but with 4x4 plus Twinair engine - on offer right now
£12300 (no, you cannot use Affinity/privilege cos I asked)

City Cross is similar 1.2 mock but with alloys, leccy mirrors and pleather steering wheel/gearknob plus climate control but no parking sensors
£13300
£10374 (with Affinity scheme)

AFFINITY = 22% reduction for cash buyers who are members of FIAT Motor club which costs £30 a year to join. I've checked.

PRIVILEGE = Reductions/finance deals for those not paying cash but with the same qualifying criteria

DEALERS - they find the schemes 'difficult' to discuss. Just mention that you've contact FIAT sales.

The qualifying criteria for Affinity and Privilege are not the same.

I had no problem getting my dealer to accept an order under the Privilege scheme. They knew all about it, and seemed very happy to have my business. I assume that the financial support for both schemes comes directly from Fiat, rather than from the dealers themselves.

Interesting to hear that Waze 4x4 isn't eligible. I suspected as much (the adverts for that deal say that it cannot be used with any other promotion). Pity, as it would have been a banging deal!

I found this very interesting because I am a prospective buyer of a 'basic' Panda 4x4. I have cash available.

I had a quick look on the web, but, apart from some prices, I couldn't find anything about how you go about the Affinity scheme Anyone used it recently?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, that noise you heard was me pushing my luck. £9500 for a new 4x4. About what they're worth.

I checked it out on email with the head of FIAT sales 2 weeks ago.
1. Join FIAT Motor Club for £30 - you will get a membership card/number
2. Phone your dealer and say you'd like to buy a new car cash on the Affinity scheme and you have FMC membership which qualifies you. Wait for the excuses.

Right now we're waiting for any pre-reg deals coming up. If none, we'll be doing a new Waze probably.

Thanks for that AB100.

Should I take it that the Affinity scheme discount changes regularly with it applying to some cars and not others? Perhaps they might allow it on slower moving models or ones they want to move on for some other reason?

In other words, if I wanted the basic Panda 4x4, I might have to wait, and it might never come into the scheme. I'm in no panic to buy, but wouldn't want to wait for ever.

Thanks for the help.

It changes quarterly. This is the list (which soon expires) that I used to 'discuss' with the local dealer. This both show the discount and also guarantees that your dealer will never pester you every few days asking for a decision.

Thanks AB10 for the further advice. I will try to educate myself a bit more before deciding what I might do. My general feeling is that Fiat Panda 4X4s are rather expensive for what you get - unless you are able to take advantage of the Affinity scheme. I have yet dared to mention it to the dealer I have been in touch with. I fear that I might get chased down the road....

The Waze 4x4 deal came to an end at the end of February, I think. The basic Waze is still on offer though.

Panda :)

We went to see the dealer yesterday, had a test drive in a 500 twin air, love the sound the engine makes when pushed! We seem to like the marmite engine.

I asked about the affinity and privilege deals (it turns out my work makes me eligible anyway) the dealer is going to get back to us with costs for both. (Although not heard anything yet...)

The delivery times are quoted at 12 weeks, but usually nearer 8 for a new build, it looks like there's a few in bound anyway, but non with all the options we'd like.

So Yellow Cross, with winter pack, DAB radio, spare wheel and tinted windows hopefully on order soon!

Thanks for all the help.

:yeahthat:

Yellow is definitely the best colour for the Cross! If only I liked Marmite!

Does anyone know the score with the affinity or privilege purchase schemes. We've been quoted a price £1k more than we were expecting.

Are there multiple fiat discount schemes or has the dealer made a mistake with the quote?

We'll ask for the detail from the dealer, just thought it would be wise going in knowing what the discount should be first!

Cheers

I'm a long time lurker first time poster. I've got the Waze 4x4 on order in minimal grey. I've traded my 2014 1.2 Fiat Panda in turquoise in as I wanted the twin air engine. I'm so excited and was told by the dealer last week it was at the port waiting to be loaded. Not long to go. I hope you get the one you want.

Are there multiple discount deals (other than the affinity or privilege schemes) from fiat? That's why I'm a little confused as I understood there wasn't.

The quote I've received doesn't have breakdown of cost, so it's difficult to see where the extra £1k has come from!

Cheers
