Hi, has anyone looked at making the boot floor flat when the seats are folded down?
I need to start taking my 3 dogs to work and need to make the space as usable as possible.

Thought about removing the rear seats altogether has anyone done this?

I have been looking to replace my car with something bigger maybe a Yeti, but cant bring to part with my little twin pot. Some how I have got very attached.

All and any suggestions welcome.

Welcome back (assuming you haven't been on in a while). The obvious question on my part is have you a 4 or 5 seat Panda. As 3 harnessed in dogs best way in my eyes as in any accident they're lethal objects, the force they could hit you with.

As this old ad I've never forgotten illustrates.

Good point, well made.
The Labrador weighs in at 35 kg, could cause quite a mess!!

Removing the rear seats completely will free up a lot more space, I took mine out just to see how easy it was, and get an proper Idea of what space we can free up, the plan is to put a sheet of plywood down with another bit for a low bulkhead for when we go on camping trips, I'd think with a ply floor with a large dog cage on would work well for transporting your dogs. If you have the money, you could look up the part numbers for the rear floor components of the Panda Van and do a conversion, seperating screen and all. A cheaper option is the false floor organizer (need to search the forum but it was shared before) and lay the boot carpet on it (becomes nearly flat) or a simple MDF or plywood hack job.

Thanks Hillhopper,

That is the perfect solution. It maybe pricey, but still a lot cheaper than changing the car, and I get to keep my fantastic little twin pot. Double bonus.

Now to see if they will deliver to the highlands!!

The plate is very easy to make yourself - I did exactly that for my previous car, a Nissan Terrano 2.

For dog transport, safest option would be dedicated car cages. A normal plastic transport crate will disintegrate in case of accident. But: very expensive, these cages...

The board used in that expensive German panel is this: phenolic film faced board, used to make smooth-faced concrete shuttering, and often for trailer floors and kids playground buildings: https://www.travisperkins.co.uk/Mesh-Plywood-2440mm-x-1220mm-x-18mm/p/680280 (as an example)

I guess that there's some metalwork or brackets underneath to connect to the lower part of the boot floor?

The cargo box is shown here on the Fiat parts system (item 3 in the drawing), but no part number is listed.

Looking back, don't think it was ever an option you could buy later, but was something you could spec at build time. A dealer may be able to source it though. Its only a chunk of moulded polystyrene so might not be too expensive.

EDIT: that box is for the 'van' version of the panda. http://www.fiatprofessional.ch/ch/C...i/Panda_Van/Panoramica/vano_carico_zoom01.jpg

But, there was a box for the 'normal' car too, as in this (now sold) Gumtree listing https://www.gumtree.com/p/car-part-...-new-generation-cargo-box-for-boot/1168804148

Just to let you guys know, this plate from TBR is no longer available.
So I decided to go with Al D suggestion and bought crash tested dog harnesses and have the dogs on the seats and you the seat belts to keep them safe.
Thanks for all the suggestions.

The cargo box was available as an accessory or part - I looked into it when I got my 4x4 in August 2016. I would have specified it as a £55 option but as I bought a pre-registered version I couldn't do that. (I got the winter pack for free - the dealer didn't realise it was fitted!)

But to order the Cargo Box as a part at the time was twice the option price - £110. iirc someone on this forum did get one.
