New Panda Waze model with free 4x4!

This was mentioned in another thread, but I think it deserves one of its own:

To celebrate winning the Crossover category in this year's 4x4 Magazine ‘4x4 of the Year 2019 awards', Fiat is launching the new Fiat Panda Waze 4X4. It combines the looks and functionality of the popular Waze model with the award-winning 4X4 running gear. For a limited time, customers will be able to purchase the Waze 4X4, with 0.9-litre Twinair 90hp engine and 4X4 capability (valued at 3,200), for the same price as the two-wheel-drive Panda Waze 1.2 69hp, 12,265 OTR. (Offer ends 28 Feb 2019)

(from this Jeep press release: http://www.jeeppress-europe.co.uk/pr...ne-awards-2019)

4x4 MAgazine's own page here: https://4x4i.com/4x4-of-the-year-awa...r-of-the-year/

Seems like a bargain to me...

Re: New Panda Waze model with free 4x4!

There was a big show in my local dealers yesterday when I collected my Abarth after it's first annual ripoff.

"4x4 for the price of 2x4"

I thought the Waze looked a bit tacky and plastic.

There's too many body coloured panels and black plastic that on the Cross would be highlighted Silver, the black wheels don't help it either.

In the darker colours it looks dull and flat, in the brighter colours it looks like there's far too much painted plastic.
It's a shame you can't add the silver roof rails, side rubbing strips and silver under bumpers as options, that would break up the overall appearance a bit.

Luckily the day before, I managed to dodge the yellow City Cross they had as a courtesy car, it looked pretty horrid.
They asked if I mined an auto and my brain quickly worked out that saying yes would probably mark that City Cross off the list.

BTW, no Fiat haven't cracked the Dualogic yet.
It's still like a chimpanzee has control of the clutch and gear lever, add to that the ponderous Stop Start system that can't start the engine as quickly as you can move your foot from brake to throttle and the whole experience it still pretty shocking.

Re: New Panda Waze model with free 4x4!

So they lower the OTR price to around what you'd have paid after the expected discount anyway? I'd only be wetting my pants over this if there was scope to negotiate a further discount off the Waze OTR price (and 0% finance...)

Having said that, is the OTR price of the Cross TA really now 16,465?!!! That's mental. And you have to pay another 500 for yellow!

(Looks from the Fiat website as though the Waze 4x4 has the steel wheels, and other poverty spec, of the Waze 4x2 - i.e. no CC, electric mirrors, seat height adjustment, etc. I reckon they'd have been lucky to find anyone daft enough to pay 15,465 OTR for that, especially as the cheaper TA 4x4 is better specced than the Waze!)

Waze 4x4 also shown in yellow on Fiat UK's home page... https://www.fiat.co.uk/content/dam/f...h-1920/img.jpg

Thumbs up Re: New Panda Waze model with free 4x4!

I have to say my "ordinary" 4x4 Panda bought new June 2018 for 13500 OTR with Metallic Active Grey paint, 40/60 split rear seat, 3 rear belts, and head restraints, and side airbags, plus all the normal "goodies" seems like a bargain. In any event I don't care as I love the little beast, more and more each drive.
Eventually we had a bit of snow in the last couple of days but before I could go out to play, it had melted.
On another tack, now we have done 3000 plus miles I can see the oil on the dipstick, and consumption is minimal--Perfectly happy

Re: New Panda Waze model with free 4x4!

Can one of "the knowledgable ones" out there tell me of significant differences between the 4x4 90bhp and the 85bhp TA engines and performance.
Can the 85 be uprated to 90 and if so is it worth it? I would say if it is a trade off between performance and reliability I will opt for reliability every time.
Thanks in advance

They pumped it up to 90 for the Cross, presumably to allow for the extra weight, it would be done via the ecu I would think and Id doubt youd notice much of a difference
Thanks Motorcyclist Colin thanked for this post

85bhp-to-90bhp is almost not worth noting as it's only about 5% and within what would be called normal tolerances for any engine spec. Suspect maybe the most minor of tweaks to the ECU as a way of headlining a 'new' spec engine....

FWIW, the performance change for a 5bhp gain in a 1-tonne car is the equivalent of approximately 1 small suitcase extra in the boot - to all intents and purposes, undetectable I'd suggest.

That rather depends on what's in the suitcase

Currently the best price available on a standard 4x4 is 14895 which is a lot more than the waze 4x4. The only offer I could find was 1000 deposit contribution if you take the 3 years interest free credit at a garage in Wales.
I agree the excess of black plastic on the waze is tacky. I did just order one with CBC, climate control leather wheel and drivers set height adjustment. I either need three Panda 4x4 wheels (ALREADY HAVE 1) to get rid of the horrid black ones or a set of bright trims from ebay for about 50. or a paint job on the trims The waze does get the totally irrelevant hill descent control. May be I will get a job in a quarry or something where it might be needed...... Time will tell if the engine fills up with white and yellow slime like the last one. Whichever its cheaper to get the waze with goodies to rebuild the spec, and climate and cbc than a standard car. Now have to wait and see if the car gets here before the ports close down after leaving the eu.

Re: New Panda Waze model with free 4x4!

For someone like me who isn't totally convinced by the Waze, this isn't a bad offer. https://www.glynhopkin.com/fiat/new-...iat-panda-4x4/

@gar074 would never have believed the TA 90 Waze even if have to add yellow paint, heated mirrors and 3rd rear seatbelt would undercut a new TA Cross RRP by over 4k.

New style wheels are 153 including VAT. Just bought one as a spare to replace one I scratched. Tempted to get a set of Fiat Accessory wheels bt they are a bit pricey, They would match the ones on our Bravo.
