Hi all,
I bought the above lead for my daughter's Panda. It only cost a few quid and looked dead easy to install. Removing the radio was a doddle and the fitting the blue plug was simple and obvious - it would only fit in one place. But it didn't work!
Apparently there is a key element to fitting one of these things. You must remove the grey multi plug before fitting the new blue plug and then re-fit the grey plug. The important thing is that the power needs to be off when the blue plug is fitted and just switching the radio off isn't sufficient. Removing the grey plug cuts the power.
After refitting the radio a simple press of the "media" button causes the radio to display "AUX" and play whatever audio is coming from the 3.5mm TRS plug. In my daughter's case, her iPhone.
I simply dropped the plug end of the cable into the back of the radio void and fished it out from behind the glove box. I'll find a neat way of routing it to the centre console sometime, but there's a neat ridge in the fascia under the gear lever binnacle that seems ideal to hide it.
I note that others have mounted a 3.5mm socket in the radio facia outside the DIN E perimeter. But I don't want to deface it and don't want a cable dangling down the facia when it's in use.
Anyhow - the key message, these cables are really simple to install and use but do please remember to unplug the radio whilst installing the new adapter.
Jonathan
