I am one who nearly voted leave nut believe in trade terms its not a good idea.

Have we forgotten how to do the famous British V sign.... Its what we do best. stand at the back pointing out where the other Nations are getting it wrong. I am praying car parts don't get even more expensive once we leave, but hope that we do indeed stop fearing the EU and start acting with a bot more common sense in some of the extreme areas. Probably wont make any difference apart form costing more. Here's hoping.

Thought I'd get political as the Tory leadership contest is enthralling. PLEASE MAKE IT ALL GO AWAY. I HAVE LOST THE WILL TO LIVE LET ALONE CARE.

Trump for Queen! I would love to have been a fly on the wall at Buckingham Palace when he finally left the building.

It may or may not turn out bad for trade. And if the EU was simply about trade than it’d be as simple as realising we’re better together. As I believe was the case at the start.

It’s what it has mutated into and the corrupt mess it is today, beyond trade, why I think 99% of people who dislike it feel the way they do.

If they stuck to focusing on trade and not regulating and censoring things and discussion of a united European army then I’d be more of a fan.

Would never deny that it has its benefits, but these guys who are so against it should stop denying that there’s a lot wrong with it too. In my opinion, it outweighs the trade benefits. In their opinion maybe it doesn’t, but it’s not all rosy as they seem to imply.

Im afraid I really have no time for VW after their cheating game. I had a 2008 Golf and I am certain that its turbo woes were directly related to experimentation on getting round the economy tests as the faults were all pretty much as defined in the papers exposing their actions. It cost me dearly, so I wouldn't buy another of their products. Our Seat predates all the messing around by some years and it will stay on until it dies. No doubting their cars drive nicely but they are not so much fun. My experience is that FCA products are not as well made or engineered overall, but they are at least as reliable over many miles. As they are an awful lot cheaper they do represent good value if you keep them for a long time.

Personally I would tax VW off the UK roads and have been campaigning for road tax refunds to those whose vehicles did not get a reduction based on false claims! Our government seemed to be so much in fear of the EU however that I met a wall of silence! I hope VW go bust.
To be fair, I think all the manufacturers are as guilty of this as vw, they were merely the 1st company to get caught.

However, I will say that the world would be a far, far more interesting place had vw gone bust 20 years ago.

Definitely. I'm sure Seat and Skoda would have come out with more interesting cars had they not all been rebadges. As for Audi, not sure, something tells me that even before VW they were the choice of the pr*ck lol

As for VW, I'll be having some words in hell with Hitler about them....

You are of course correct. I am not sure if there are any who are innocent. Fiats tested the programme that the engine starts up with cut off after 23 minutes. The EC test on emissions is a 21 minute affair... Enough said.

No, thats just plain wrong, Volvo, particularly has an amazing safety record in all areas of impact, in fact the company had recently announced that from 2025 nobody will die nor be seriously injured in a volvo in any real word collision.

And I believe them absolutely.
Are these the same people who have lied and obstructed the World about the source of the Covid 19 virus? Sure....I trust what they say implicitly..

Tried the Suzuki Ignis recently and was disappointed. It felt under powered and unexciting after Panda. 55mpg on test was good but no 4wd available so who knows what that might actually achieve.

What about all those people whom drive classic and vintage cars. If yoiu are hit by something large its going to hurt whatever. Drive defensively and with care and hope that this is sufficient to keep out of trouble.

I would personally rather have effective headlights than CBC or lane departure systems!
Yes, and most modern cars have tiny windows so visibility is poor. At least you can see well out of a Panda, which in itself is a good safety aspect. See the obstacle and avoid it. Also this modern idea of putting indicators so close to headlamps so you can't see them operating. All very safe. But N Cap don't care about visibility or how effective the lights are - ignoring the basics for the sensationalism

??? The great Volvo conspiracy? Volvo are responsible for Covid is that what you’re claiming ??
Where did you get the ludicrous idea of a Volvo conspiracy and them being responsible for Covid 19? That was not suggested in my post. I was querying the honesty/validity of the claims made by Volvo's Chinese owners that by 2025 there would be no deaths or serious injury in a Volvo as a result of a real world collision. Just as the Chinese have been totally honest about their involvement with Covid 19

To be fair they could plan to stop selling cars by 2025 as that would mean nobody in would die in a crash from then onwards ?

Volvo were supposedly going 'fuel free'

So sales would be negligible anyway.

And miles covered would make it appear 'safer'

Less people were killed last year driving
MESSERCHMITT's that Dacia's therefore
German cars are Safer..

My kinda logic. If I was Chevrolet I'd be suing Ralph Nader's estate because I doubt anyone's side-winded a Corvair into a ditch since Monday week. Unsafe at any speed. Pah!

A very good point! Yes, that could well be the reason for being able to make such a statement - hopefully they will still be around though, have owned 3 of their range and all were good cars. 460, 760, 960

I feel my Panda 4x4 is one of the safest cars I've owned when it comes to driving on the hilly rural roads round here during the winter months. So in no hurry to be changing it because NCAP think its unsafe if something hits it, which to be honest due to its diminutive size is not in its favour anyway.

To be fair it go 0start rather then 2* because of a lack of nanny aids

I remember only too well how much Skoda was criticised. I had many rear engined versions but one incident is a reminder as to what the critics and statisics often get seriously wrong.
A good friend had a head on crash in a 120L the car was totally destroyed at the front but he walked out with minor cuts and bruises, the other driver who instigated the crash didn't. The traffic police told him that he would not have survived in any other car (at the time of course) no doubt because the body could absorb the impact without an engine to impede the process of absorbing the impact. Which mag used to say they were unsafe but the facts and reported accidents were extremely low.

My theory on top of this is that because the Panda outsells the UP / Mii / Citigo combined in Europe and NCAP is very focussed on the EU - good , right? Except they seem to care about Germany, which is probably the only world class economy in the EU now that the UK has left. Meaning looking after big German companies like VAG... Who can't get a piece of Fiat's success in the A segment :D

Perhaps I'm paranoid, but I strongly believe it's to try and dent the Panda's success in sales.

I am amazed, but very proud, that despite it being very basic, very expensive (for what it is versus competitors standard equipment) that people across Europe still love it and choose it for a form of transport. Just wish the folks here in the UK loved it as much!! Lol
