Hi guys, popped open me bonnet to find coolant sprayed all over the shop! Well mainly on the coolant tank and around it to be fair.... It now registers on the min line why has it stopped there?

Also what's my first port of call to check?

Tis a twinair with 56k miles.

Cheers in advance

Hi mine is a 12 reg with 38600 miles...the header bottle has a design fault because the piece of connect ing pipe that is in the tank is copper and the tank is plastic so the copper heats up and degrades the plastic a round it and under pressure and time it leaks..

By all accounts this was a one off???

Cleaned it up, went on holiday. several motorway journeys etc and hasn't happened again. Everything running as normal too....

Oddly, I think it wouldn't be motorway journeys that would cause this, but short trips in which the copper connecting pipe expands quickly due to conductivity while the remaining plastic and rubber parts are left to try and keep up. Keep an eye out, as Phil has said the issue may worsen over time due to material degradation on the copper and rubber parts.
