Renewal time for my wife’s Panda Trekking TA. From a well-known provider another £30 hike to £242 to follow on from last year and the year before. Can anyone recommend an insurance company that treats customers with 20+ years NCB in a fair way?

Presumably by 'recommend' you mean 'find' and 'fair' you mean 'better priced'.

That's a 'no'. Ours are within £20-£30 of your price (cheaper) though they're 1.2s.

You can try broker I've used for decade. BP - 01253 393106. Think they count up to 9 years NCB. The figure on your existing renewal docs was enough proof for them when I joined. See how you get on. They will do their best to match comparison sites too. (y)

Thanks for your help Dan

First I'll try to beat them down with quotes from comparison sites.

Don't want the hassle of change but will if necessary.

I was promised I wouldn’t get any lower than what your broker came up with, I remember it was around £1000, including forum discount etc.

I renewed with direct line and got it for £860.

Don't be too tough on Dan. His firm insure my Barchetta for under £100 pa (y)

(Hey Dan, do I get a discount next time? :D)

Taking breakdown and legal/courtesy car away from what I paid, that makes my insurance around £215. Cheapest ever paid. Don't forget if worst happens insurer paying out 20-30 times your premium. They're niot a charity. :bang:

Legal is worth having, imo. It paid for a top solicitors' firm and amazing barrister after my wife was rear-ended by an HGV on the A14 some years ago. As a result of their careful case preparation and expert negotiation, the settlement she eventually received was nearly 10 times what the other side had originally offered. Not a bad return on a £25 premium.

To update everyone. And thanks for the input.

My wife phoned LV and they agreed to knock 5% off their original quote. Now £230.11 which she is to go ahead with as she wants to stay with them. Must admit they are usually very efficient.

Just got a quote of £153 from Hastings Direct. Should have the renewal from Direct Line anytime as insurance is due 19th July. Last year they hyped it up and after a call got it reduced by £50 to £114 but no doubt it will be dearer.
Will update with their quote once I get the renewal.

Hi.
Just noticed a mis type on my last post it wasn't £114 it was £174 last year.

This years renewal from Direct Line is £192.64 but after a phone call I have now got it at £172.48.

I did try Adrian Flux today but they were £221.

Although Hastings Direct were cheaper it works out £2.05 per month more as I pay monthly and their APR is more than double that of Direct line. So this will be my 14th year with Direct line.

Unfortunately we can't be competitive on every quotation I'm afraid. I only wish we could be!
Regards,
Dan.

My wife was with direct line untill she got a speeding ticket and they asked for £30 more on the next renewal so I told them to stick it rang someone else and it was £100 cheaper ???? I think with not just insurance companies but any one if you are a loyal customer they just take you for granted and rip you off because they know you will just keep paying no questions asked, new customer always get a far better deal than loyal customers,,I myself am guilty of been a loyal customer in the past but now I have seen what this gets you I just do what Martin Lewis advises,Ditch and switch.

Yes there is no such thing as loyalty to customers these days. I do though make the call and have found it always pays off. Also look at the hidden charges for monthly payments too and certainly in my case I'm definitely saving money.
I had a big barney with the police in 2013 in the van and was accused of using my phone, I had no phone with me as I forgot it that day, even when I went into work I had told the gaffer and all I did was call in from the places I'd been at when finishing a job. I got pulled for using a phone. I told them in no uncertain way I had no phone, even told them to search the van and call my boss. It got heated and I was told to shut up or get arrested. I engaged the advice of my lawyer but was told to pay up and take the points, fortunately the boss paid the fine as he knew I was telling the truth.
Direct line then slapped on an extra £100 excess. This though is across the board, better to tell the truth and not void your insurance.

Amazingly, in an industry where customer loyalty is rarely rewarded, my current insurer's renewal quote was cheaper than last year, and beat the Meerkat-generated competition by a cool 12.5%.

Still ended up paying more, though - but only because I added 2 of my kids (one of whom only passed their test last month) to the policy. I'm astonished that, even with the sprogs on my policy, I'm still only paying just over £300 for fully comp, PNC, legal and PI cover, courtesy car, etc.

Nervous about letting the offspring loose in my Panda, but it's small, has great visibility, and is easy-peasy to drive, so it makes sense. And I can hit the Eco button without telling them, so they won't be able to go at more than a snail's pace (y)
