FCA has introduced the GSE-Firefly Turbo engines, they will be used in FCA's full portfolio, Fiat, Alfa and Jeep.
The 999cc 3 cylinder engine will have 120 hp and 190 Nm.
The 1332cc 4 cylinder engine will have 180 hp and 270 Nm.

Here some info on German Motor-talk.de :

More wil follow soon i reckon.

Can't wait for the 120 hp 3 cilinder be available in the present Panda. :D

But i would not be surprised it will not be available till the new 2019-2020 Panda is introduced.

The question is whether they can put that lump in and sell it for less than £13500 to undercut the VW Up! GTI......

If they do, how many Abarth 500 buyers might be swayed into shelling out less money for the extra doors?

Allegedly there's the 80kw 1332cc in production in South America. 107bhp. So that would replace the TA 105 one day in the 500. And a detuned eco version would am sure be launched. 85bhp is enough for a Panda for me.

The 1332 would make a lovely Panda 180Hp:D

180 hp would be Abarth material, and i have read somewhere that the Panda wil not get 4 cilinder engines anymore.
The 3 cilinder engine can be used in different tunes, basic with around 80-90 hp and then a 100-120 hp version.
A remapped 3 cylinder turbo could end up having 135-145 hp. :D
I think the new engines will debut most likely in the new 500 (2019) and then Panda (2020)
I still hope they will put it in the Present Panda 319 with 100-120 hp.
I don't know if the non turbo versions will be available in Europe at all, maybe only as Hybrids.

Rumor has it, that the new 3 cilinder GSE-Firefly turbo will not see the day of light in the present generation Panda and 500, it's distend for the new 2019-2020 FIAT 500 and Panda.

Lets hope FCA will put the 105 hp TwinAir in the Panda instead.
It's just the 85TA with just a slightly bigger turbo and intercooler.

The 1.0l turbo and 1.3l turbo engines have been reviewed in the new revised Jeep Renegade. (AutoExpress, Car).

The 1.0 118 BHP was given a good write up, but they are less enthused about the 1.3 - although it seems like it's more the automatic transmission it's coupled with which is to blame.

For now i'm happy with my TwinAir Turbo, hope FIAT will introduce the 1.0 ltr 3-cilinder turbo GSE-Firefly engine in this generation Panda soon.

The 1.3 GSE-Firefly Turbo will not be available for the Panda, maybe a NON turbo 1.3 Mild-Hybrid will.

Yes, I saw this. The engines have been pretty well received - particularly the 1.3 - the 1.0 seems to struggle with the mass and aerodynamics of the Renegade. What mostly disappoints is the transmissions by the sounds of it. It seems like they've married the gearboxes and engines with little thought to how they would work together. I wouldn't mind seeing the 1.0 in a Panda with a 6 speed manual.

No tinted rear windows? Come on, basic!

Even the Lounge version i have was hard to find, with climate control, heated windscreen, fogligts, door strips, roofrails, tinted windows.

I see Lounge versions without tinted windows, roofrails, foglight, and doorstrips, around here.
Just a case of trim level, in some countries they are standard, and in other countries you have to order them separately.

But here with tinted windows all around, dark windows in the rear. :D

Today i had a extensive look under the bonnet of a 500X with the all new 999cc, 3 cylinder, GSE-Firefly Turbo engine with 120 hp.
And i have to say, can't wait for this engine to end up in the present Panda. :D
I hope they will introduce it soon with maybe a de-tuned ECU map and around 90 hp or so.
I don't like to see it getting a smaller turbo to reduce power for Panda/500 use.
After a ECU remap you could end up with 140-150 hp.

Considering the Ecoboost Fiesta had the 100hp 1 liter 4 years ago, the 115hp for the past two years and 140hp from the same engine since they introduced the Red and Black editions 3 years ago, I'll be very disappointed if the Panda gets less than 100hp. Considering all the heavy safety crap they'll have to add to get a decent NCAP, the weight will undoubtedly go up and 100hp will be barely enough to make the performance acceptable. Keeping in mind the Clio based Renault Modus got a 5 star NCAP with 6 standard airbags and a proper crash structure so many years ago, and still had 100hp from the 1.4 liter engine (but weighed 60kg more than the Panda and the design language had multiple personality disorder), if they can't keep the GSE engines competitive with engines from 4 years ago (let alone 8 years for the Modus) I'm afraid Fiat won't be the chic stylish city car with personality and character brand, but rather the Dacia of the FCA group.
