Hi. is there a way to reset the service light indicator on a 2015 panda 1.2 with taking it to a garage . thanks tony

If there's a service message it will go out by itself. Reset it will count down from 9000 and maybe return at around the 300 mark. Depending on your location someone with MES may be able to sort for you. :)

Hi,
No reputable garage will reset the service indicator unless they did/do the service. If a garage did the last service take it back to them and get them to sort it out. If you did the service yourself you need to get a copy of Multiecuscan, http://www.multiecuscan.net
( €50 registered but make sure you can connect to car with the free version before paying)
A USB ELM 327 interface and a No.3 (yellow) adaptor lead. A typical set is

Don't buy a cheap interface from the far east, they have a design flaw and need modification.
You need laptop to run the software but even an old one running Windows XP will do.
Apart from re-setting the service light MES will let you do a host of other service and diagnostic functions.

What ever happened to block exception

The legislation was written by lawyers, so not clever enough. The manufacturer engineers, all of them form all manufacturers, immediately found ways around it. The power units will all speak universal, as the legislation wished, but everything above basic needs manufacturer specific software. Setting the service light was not covered by the basic requirements.

Block exemption also insisted that manufacturer data must be available to independent repairers. It is. But at a price. There are intermediaries who collate this from all manufacturers, and garages subscribe to the data so they get it for all. A big expense. As Fiat owners we are very lucky to have MultiECUscan. Owners of other makes have either nothing, or have to pay a lot more.

Hi,
Not sure what you mean. There is third party software like MES, that can do pretty much everything a dealer can so independents can reset lights. A local garage differentiates between a reset service and non reset oil change and the difference is enough to buy MES and a lead. It does include a few extra visual inspections, basically a good weekly check. I asked why so much for visual inspections and that's when they mentioned the reset. If it's my "no reputable garage.." comment, that's not directed at Fiat and it's not about being able to do a reset. It's about liability. If someone takes a car to a garage and gets the light reset without doing the work and it turns out the customer had not done the work and then sold the car as serviced the garage would be culpable as accomplice or conspirator to fraud. Quite rightly they won't take the risk.
