Can anyone help with a secondhand N/S (passenger) wing mirror? Someone got a bit close with a wheelie bin on the drive and it has sheared off where its supposed to rotate. The hot melt gun has provided a fix but it won't last I'm sure and it'll preclude the use of the car wash which is the real bummer!

Car is that green colour that 4x4s tend to be but I'm guessing that you can swap the (colour coded) mirror shells? It's on a 63 plate and the mirror is electric (if there was a mechanical version?).

Any pointers to a reliable S/H spares site would be a welcome alternative to dealer prices... Thanks

Quite a few have found out the mirrors only fold one way, inwards.
Knock or try to fold them the other way and the snap.

There's just electric and manual for the left hand mirror.
The right hand one comes in four flavours, electric and manual, with and without outside temp sensor.

Though I have seen left hand mirrors listed with temp sensors as well.

You should be able to tell, there is a bump/nipple on the underside of the mirror housing on the mirrors with sensors.

The coloured caps pop off from the back, within. Just tease a couple of tangs back and it pulls off.

Ebay might be your friend for a used one.
Or there's

You can get a forum discount with Shop4Parts if you donate to the forum, 10% I think it is.

I'm sure you've already had the mirror off, but for anyone needing to know, just tease the inner plastic "triangle" trim off the door on the inside the car, the mirror unplugs and is held in place by a couple of bolts (8 or 10mm methinks).

Great info; thank you. No, didn't know that the temp sensor resides in the "nipple" and I won't dig myself a hole with any gratuitous analogies...

It all becomes clear now since the wheelie bin driver was walking backwards down the drive passing the parked Panda towards the front end so it would've taken a whack in the non-folding direction.

As by way of an update;

I found this thread https://www.fiatforum.com/panda-201...oor-mirror-twisted-off-its-bracket-gars4.html after I had bought a new assembly, bah!

As a result I have a spare "as new" N/S door mirror assembly. While it cost me some quids the warm feeling I have of having repaired the original is going some way to compensating!

On inspection of the "broken" assembly it seems they are designed to twist in both directions but it must have been caught at a tricky angle by the wheelie bin. I reassembled the old one with some Vaseline and will lube up the new one on the car with some silicone spray.

Many thanks to all contributors to this forum which represents such a great resource.
