Boring but true: had a Renault Zoe for 2 years, you could chuck whatever you wanted on a 32gb stick and it would play...iTunes, whatever, great system!
Pete - any more info or tips on fitting this as I will almost certainly go this route.
Have you links for the fascia/adaptors etc?
Hi,
Well, the stereo is from Halfords, £69, the adapter was from Amazon (just look up stereo adapter, you’ll need to break off two big lugs if you get the one I got as once you remove the OEM unit there are 2 metal plates holding the dash trim on so the supposed adapter still needs adapting! What I’ll do is screen shot my purchase and those of adapters etc at the end of this. By that, I mean it’s still ongoing. After contact with Aamp and trying different settings on their loom, I’ve decided to take the car to them. 1 hour 20 mins from Bournemouth, they said they’ll get it working for me!!!! Fingers crossed! That’s tomorrow, so if all goes well I’ll show pics as much as I can etc afterwards! Wish me luck! (By the way, they say the larger white ISO connector is not relevant to the steering wheel controls due to the CanBus! I assume it might be for the USB and Aux connectors then......
If you don't have the steering wheel controls do you still need the loom? Isn't it all standard plugs now?
You’re right, just plug and play if no wheel controls (you have to swap the power lead though, basically the red piggy backs off the yellow...permanent 12v, but it comes ready for that option with a connector in situ). So for £69 it’s a great unit, but if you want radio it’s still an adapter as fiat use a weird connector I’ve not seen before!
Had a Sony 10 disc changer in a MINI (I’m talking old mini, not the Maxi of today!!!) 20 years ago, with a stalk controller too! Because it scanned ahead of what it was playing, that Sony never skipped any of the music, and with the minis suspension set up that was a small miracle in itself! I took that Sony on with me to other cars![emoji3]
Ahh right - so to confirm you need the unit, fascia and £12 aerial adaptor?
