Hi,
wonder if anyone can help. Tring to remove the plastic steering wheel shroud/cowl and have undone the two hex screws underneath but am baffled as to what to do next !
Reluctant to force apart as may break some thing. Anyone help please.
Need to remove to see why it's not fixed properly and moves about despite the two screws underneath being tight. __________________

When I replaced my stalk assembly I had found the same.
I removed the airbag and steering wheel before I removed the top and bottom cowls, but I can't remember whether this was just because I couldn't see how they clipped together or whether I had to do it in that order.
The following photos may help you to understand how the two pieces clip together.

Much appreciated and especially the photo's. Will have to consider removing the wheel as those are serious clips to deal with, thanks again.

How much did you pay for a replacement stalk assembly? I'm potentially looking to do the same. I have a fault in the indicator stalk where I can't turn the lights off, I'm hoping I can pull it apart and fix it, replacing the whole unit is plan b

Legend. I got stuck with the holes either side of the steering wheel. I figured they must be screw holes but couldn't be sure so didn't want to create an expensive mistake.

If anyone else is reading this I would like to add (based on stuff I've read about removing airbags) that when you disconnect the battery wait for 30 minutes for system to fully discharge. This might be a be myth, but doesn't hurt to do

At that crazy price I'd carefully try and dismantle it to see if its fixable. I'd also happily spend twenty quid on a second hand one out of the breakers to make one out of two.
