Technical Alloy wheel balance.

Hi all i got two front tyres yesterday on my TA 85.TOYO PROXES.So i took it down local motor way .it drives true and streight.So had a look for the weights and.. no weights on the front wheels.I even took the the N/S wheel off.. Is it possible to have no weights on a wheel..

Possible but rather unlikely.

More likely is that they didn't balance them.

I have never see wheels without balance weights in my life, there is always some kind unbalance in a wheel-tire combination.

I find it strange but 80 mmph it's steady as a rock.

More likely is that they didn't balance them.

almost anything is possible but balanced without weights unlikely in the extreme, especially on two wheels .


you haven't noticed because the imbalance isn't yet at a level you can feel.


Look at your receipt if charged for balancing go back and ask the tyre fitters if they accidently forgot to do the balancing.
if you were charged for rebalancing the rears check you have new weights.
A tyre/wheel combination is not going stay in balance for 30.000 miles.

Hi.
I agree, never in 46 years behind the wheel have I had a wheel without balance weights, that includes the obsolete way of balancing them on the car!!!
Small imbalances sometimes cant be felt but they can accelerate suspension wear.

I checked the wheels again today and the O/S wheels are balanced but not the N/S Wheels.. So went shopping and again went on the motorway and still no vibration..still puzzled.

i had my alloy wheels balaced with the weights stuck on the inside so you cannot see them on the outside possibly this was done with yours or maybe you hit lucky and your tyres and wheels balanced with no weights

Yes if the wheels and tyres are top quality. Sometimes it does happen, but its relatively rare. If it has no vibration there is nothing to worry about.
