Hi,

I could do with adjusting my handbrake it takes a good 7 clicks to get the brakes to hold.

Not sure how you do it on the newer pandas, any idea?

Thanks

what year your panda?
how many miles has it covered?
rear drums or discs?

any one can feel free to abuse me if no pandas have rear discs and infer that I am a total idiot for not knowing.

the 4x4 and Cross models have rear disc brakes. On these, the handbrake mechanism is self adjusting (the calliper piston ratchets round to take up the slack, and this is what you 'reset' by using a wind-back tool when replacing the pads). There is adjustment possible at the lever end too, on all models, from underneath the car... you can see the adjuster nut in this image: https://www.fiatdalys.lt/diagrams/E9/E9FA78AE71D7A4BB3265E8A140E11111.png

Thank you for the +ve info.

I was expecting a barrage of how come you don't know exactly what is fitted to a particular model of an individual year.

7 clicks is getting a little long, but suggests a re line may be needed. If the cable has stretched a little adjust by all means but don't over do it or you will have to release it when a reline is carried out.

My Panda 100 did used to hold on 1 click, or 3 on a very steep hill. The new car is a 4x4 and needs 3-5 clicks. Only 2000 miles done so far so this is probably normal lever travel. 7 is not too bad. If the brakes hold the car well on a slope, and you have some more ratchets left I would not rush to change it yet.
