Hi,
The difference between C2 and C3 is the SAPS (Sulphur Ash and Phosphorus) content. C2 is mid SAPS and C£ is low SAPS. This is more to do with emissions control equipment such as catalysts an DPFs than the engine itself. Sulphur and Phosphorus improve lubricity (many will remember the strong smell of "EP" gear oil caused by added sulphur), mainly by surface modification, but can poision catalytic devices. C2 tends to be specified for later catalytic conveters and early DPFs and C3 for the latest designs. Thus if the emissions control devices are OK with it C2 is better for your engine.
