So the story so far. Got a new Panda TA in January. Only done 1400 miles so far and it's used no oil yet but I thought I'd get some in case it needs a top up. Last month the dealership told me I need SELENIA Digitek 0W 30. I phoned up this morning to see if they've got some in stock and the guy in parts said - you need Petronas 5W 30 and we've plenty in stock... What the hell is going on??

He's talking nonsense, if anything it would be 5w40 but the correct oil is the 0w digitek for sure

The most disturbing aspect of this was when I got talking to the guy in parts. He said that they insist on having all the oils in stock but that their sister dealership just has a few large barrels of the most popular and they use them - whatever the manufacturer says. This is a Fiat dealer too.

B&m are currently selling 4litres of 5w/40 acea c3 for £14 if you have a branch near you, carlube triple r

Selenia 0w30 and a Fiat filter £49 (roughly half a litre spare oil in second can). And if you know a garage you trust, supply them with it. Keep the paperwork. Doubt very much engine will have an issue and later the owner has to supply Fiat with lab results showing they put the right oil in or anything like that.

My first impressions of Fiat dealers wasn't good and it isn't getting better. Problem is, I was more than happy to start using my local dealer but being quoted stupid money (they charge more than my local Mini dealer for the same things) for simple jobs has put me right off and other stories on this site are making me not want to use them at all (was even considering taking out a service plan). I Was also after another remote key fob, was told it would be about £350. Tried Timpsons instead (still waiting for a firm quote) and they estimate about £200. If the local Fiat dealer had quoted sensible prices, they would have my business but as it is, I'll probably never visit them again.

Never have to top-up oil with the twiner turbo between services.
The most oil it ever used was 0.7 liter over 12000 Km.
