Give the dealer a call. If they had your reg on the text it could be a recall for something or other.

Yes, TA. No further info. I'll need to ring them next week. If you hear what it's for let us know.

Later,

Had my 4x4 updated with the new software a couple of days ago. Seems to now be slightly not as economical on the same journeys (-2 mpg on the usual average of 56 mpg) but also appears to vibrate less if you hold a gear too long at low revs (i like to drive with low revs!) and seems smoother somehow. I can't really say if it is lacking any power or anything as it still seems fairly nippy for the engine size.
What I do notice though which now happens in every gear is that the EGR valve sounds like it opens at 2750 RPM in all gears rather than just in the lower gears (I assume it is the EGR causing the sudden louder engine noise at higher revs [maybe this doesn't explain the noise very well!] ) - it is almost like a restriction feeling or something but yet it doesn't seem to reduce the overall acceleration from as it was before the update.
Hmm, maybe a video/sound might explain the difference more than i've managed here?

Other than that, seems fine after the update if not slightly smoother and very slightly less economical.

Mine has been done. The campaign number is 6016.

Took this out for a long unaccompanied test drive.

Utterly fantastic!!!!

If I didn't have this, I'd buy one.

Probably an update to remove the timer Volkswagen say Fiat have on some models which switches off the emission controls after 23 seconds . The EEC test cycle takes 20 secs apparently.

It's probably nothing of the sort, just being cynical[emoji6] mine goes in on Thursday.

Just received my letter about this recall (campaign 6016). I was lucky to receive it, as it was mailed to the wrong address - that of a neighbour, who lives half a mile away. God knows how FCA managed to get my address wrong on their system, especially as my registration document and purchase invoice both show the correct address.

The letter says that it's to update the Engine Control Module software, "to prevent the possibility of difficulty in cold starting."

I thought all Fiats were like that, but evidently they've found a fix for it. :D

Minutes not seconds, and that was a diesel NOx control ... i thought that was not applicable to TA or other petrol engines as NOx was a much bigger issue for diesels.

It was diseasil, I was just being cynical. VW in conjunction with some German testing organisation have accused Fiat of having emission controls that switch off after the test cycle. The 500X has been specifically mentioned. Don't know what flavour motion lotion though, probably diseasil.

Its been a few months now after the ECU update but I've definitely noticed a decrease in fuel economy as well as upper rev performance in the 1.3D panda 4x4. Also a rather annoying thing is that in lower revs (not too low) the engine 'hunts' causing rapid lurching as though you need to select a lower gear - pressing the accelerator either more or less seems to workaround the problem though this was not at all apparent at all before the update.
