Strange issue this morning on my TA 4x4. Message saying low fuel level and range blank. No fuel light on. Fuel level suggested 3 bars. Finally came back on after 5 miles reading range of 62 miles. Take it not common problem as the only problem I've had on 3 Pandas really in 15,000 miles. Well, apart from the ELD thing telling me it was unavailable. Though in late spring, who cares?

I've found the low fuel light to vary when it decides to tell you its low! I normally fill up soon after the light comes on and it takes 33-35 litres to fill, but sometimes I can barely 30 litres in.

Mine too (4x4 MJ) seems a bit erratic.

The 'beep' and display of 'Warning: low fuel' happen when gauge is still showing at least quarter full, and range can be all sorts of values (from 50+ to " ----" )

The orange 'low fuel' light usually comes on some time later...

But sometimes I can only just get 30litres in when this happens, and other times nearly 34 (and note that the 4x4, TA as well as MJ) has a smaller, 35 litre tank than the 2WD versions.

Also the whole gauge seems very non-linear. The last quarter drops way faster than the rest of the bars, I'm sure

I still can't get over the fact that my gauge shows 1/3 full when the range left is only 60 miles or so. It's easy to get caught out by that. I leave my trip computer on range all the time now, just to be sure (and it helps to avoid the gloom of watching the fuel consumption data).

That's really strange, as mine is the opposite in both respects. The light always comes in before the beep and with regards to the gauge itself; the first 'cube' stays for a while then the next 3/4 disappears fairly quickly. :what:

Thanks to Herts Hillhopper about the smaller fuel tank. I'd got confused previously why fuel light came on with over 2 gallons left, not true then (5 litres left when I refilled after initial panic yesterday then). Discovered today too that 4x4 won't do 50 in 2nd, nevermind. Maybe the 5 speed would, can anyone confirm this. 1.2 lot more linear but slower, though by how much was debated in the motoring press in 2012. Both my previous went down motorway sliproad a treat in 2nd and 3rd). Will see how much flooding, ice and snow we don't get and see next summer maybe....
