2016 Panda - electric steering personalisable?

Hi guys, just one more question if you don't mind.

It's about the steering. Now I understand the car has electric steering and there are 2 modes - normal and City - but even in normal mode the steering feels overly light and direct. As a result she feels a little twitchy on the open road.

Is there any way of modifying the weight of steering to make it a bit heavier?

In the handbook it hints at personnalisation but includes no details???????

Can it be re-programmed to be slightly less direct?

Cheers
Dave

Are you sure your tire pressure isn't on the high side? Can't realy imagine the handling of the Panda being experienced as twitchy normally. The city setting only effects low speed feel of the steering wheel. You can't adjust the steering in any other way. Might make a difference if you adjust the hight of the wheel so your arms would be in a different angle (maybe you are driving with very straight arms?).

Hi TheR and thank you for your observations. When I picked up the car the tyres pressures were at 3.0 bar ie Transport mode. I corrected them down to 2.2 front and 2.0 rear.

It's not just the lightness that concerns me it's the 'speed' of the steering lock to lock. This has nothing btw to do with City steering.

Maybe it's just something I need to get used to.

Re: 2016 Panda - electric steering personalisable?

I've had cars in the past that where also delivered with way to much tyre pressure so I could relate to that.
I guess it just takes some getting used to the directness of the steering. I guess your previous car used to have more turns of the wheel to go from lock to lock. That said the Panda certainly isn't that direct compared to some cars I had in the past.
I recently drove a friends new VW Passat and when I moved the wheel for only a couple of mm's I nearly changed lanes instantly. Didn't like that at all. I don't like a big dead spot in the center either but this was ridiculous. But probably also a mather of getting used to.

Re: 2016 Panda - electric steering personalisable?

My electic steering broke a while ago and I had to drive it for around 2 weeks before it was possible to take it in for repair, once I got it back it felt unreal, like city x5 compared to how I had last driven it before it went away from me for another couple of weeks. I'd say give it some time!
