Hi, just checked the legal situation:

LED lights are absolutely illegal in the UK.

It is actually quite funny:

The UK laws regarding type approval are quite lax compared to other countries. So we can get away with a lot of things that would get your car impounded in e.g. Germany. However regarding lighting the situation is a bit different: Since the UK laws regarding car lights were written when there were no LED lights (automotive), they do not mention them, and as such they are absolutely not allowed - the laws specify what is allowed and not what isn't, so as they are not mentioned, all LEDs are illegal (including sidelights, indicators, etc.).

The only way LED lights in modern cars can be legal in the UK is by EU regulation which has been/had to be directly adopted by the UK. That is the little 'E' mark on most light units - tested, and approved according to EU regs and therefore legal throughout the EU - incl. UK. So after Brexit, many modern cars (with LED lights) may become illegal in the UK, if the government misses that little detail :)

In order for LED lights to be type approved (E marked) the whole unit has to be tested, there can be no approval for replacement bulbs that go in place of a regular H4 or H7 unit - as alignment is crucial, and cannot be guaranteed using a standard socket, usually the whole unit has to be replaced.

So, in short, any of the above LED replacement bulbs are not street legal and will - as murphyv310 pointed out - lead to an immediate MOT fail, maybe even classed as "dangerous", so you won't be allowed to drive the car of the garage forecourt until they are replaced and the MOT is passed. Many decide to remove them for the MOT - I did so with (type approved, but you never know) sidelight bulbs. But if you happen to dazzle a police car, a technically savvy officer could decide to prevent you from continuing your journey if he deems the lights to be a danger to traffic.

Nothing. :D
I decided to no longer invest in the Panda, besides normal service costs.
I even plan to go back to a single wheel solution, and rotate summer and winter tires around on the same wheels.
No more double wheels for summer and winter.
I'm happy with the Panda as it is, and will drive it till i know what FCA is planning in the near future, and present some kind of Panda future. ;)

Hi.
Why??

You have a cracking looking Panda, you've done so much to make it look individual but why stop now? Whether or not Fiat replace, leave or drop the Panda as it is now its still your car and you shouldn't feel down hearted if Fiat don't make the changes you hope for, at the end of the day I know you love your Panda so please don't give up, that would be very sad.

Got my hands on a cheap set Fiat 500 "By Diesel" 16 inch wheels. :D
Sadly without the "By Diesel" centre caps.
Wheel rims need some work, damaged clear coat and one missing fake plastic wheel fastener. ;)
Need to find out if those fake plastic wheel fasteners are available to order.
I have the broken one, and could glue it back in.

Just glue it back in.

LEDs installed properly with dust covers that allow to the cancellers to be in the headlight unit. Happy with them!

I cleaned the washer bottle out, which stank of bad eggs. Removed the wheel arch liner to access it, then pulled the pump upwards and off to drain the foul smelling liquid. Then put a hose in the top and flushed it through, & refitted everything. Filled reservoir with clean water plus a Milton tablet and went for a drive whilst pumping the entire contents through front and rear washers. Finally refilled with good quality screen wash & hosed the car to wash any remnants of bleach away. Now all’s well [emoji1303]

I decided to sell these wheels again, and did so, with profit. :D

Got back from a 2000km road trip lasting 6 days with the final day of the trip spent driving for almost 11 hours. 4 people with their week's worth of bags fit perfectly. Fuel economy average for the trip is 5.3L/100km (1.3 diesel), with most of the roads causing high consumption (and most of the roads on the trip) being mountain and coastal roads. Couldn't convince the rest of the party to do anything adventurous regarding off-roading.

Generally the Panda performed admirably, but having spent almost a week in the car here are a few things I have to get off my chest:

No car henceforth should lack rear air vents. The lack of them made controlling cabin temperature a constant discussion throughout the trip.

It's still impossible to find a perfect driving position, with or without a lumbar cushion. Speaking of lumbar cushions, I'm scouring the aftermarket (and auto upholstery shops) for some sort of lumbar cushion for the rear seats. Failing to find any, I'm considering having one of the upholstery shops in the area design and make a custom set.

We didn't use the folding front passenger seat picnic table throughout the whole trip, but the plastic mold on the back of the seat ate into rear legroom for the duration. I'm considering removing it but it's a pain to remove, and leaves the back of the seat somewhat exposed.

An immensely annoying squeak has emerged from somewhere in the right rear corner, I suspect it's the right rear seatbelt return mechanism which is hidden firmly under lots of plastic. The squeak has been impossible to replicate since we got back, which makes having the dealer sort it an attempt in futility.

The Panda rides over broken and bad roads much better with some weight in it. If I weren't such a sucker for off-road adventures, I'd seriously consider fitting the standard Panda suspension to achieve similar results in comfort.

Overall, for a city car, I'm happy. It overachieves beyond reasonable expectations and makes up for any shortcomings with character and imbues empathy toward it. Sure, there are vast opportunities for improvement, but my lack of initiative to attempt any improvements is indicative of how they are easy to overlook.
