Hi

We have a 13 plate Panda 4x4 twin Air, which had to be recovered to the garage, with a suspected failed clutch.

Anybody had any problems like this, this is the first clutch to go in one of my cars for 25 years. The garage has said it might be down to wear and tear!!!

thanks

I've not heard of a clutch problem on these. If you're a 13 plate, presumably they'll be trying to wriggle out of a warranty claim. Unless you've done a stratospheric mileage, I'd fight that one. Like you, I've never had to replace a clutch (in 37 years, in my case, and in cars that I've put 100+k miles on)

The clutches in these cars are pretty weak! Try and get a better quality clutch if you can, the ones supplied by fiat are usually valeo which i find a little poorer

Wear is very much dependent on driving style. Some may last as little as 40,000 miles or as much as 100,000+.

Mine was replaced at 35k due to release bearing apparently dragging slightly and thus wearing the pressure plate prematurely. It was fixed under warranty.

I'm not sure if the 4x4 aspect has something to do with it, as i'm speaking from experience of the front wheel drive models.

I've got a 13 plate diesel 4x4 with 78k (miles) on the clock and the clutch is fine. As I live in Norfolk there's no motorway driving so the clutch gets used a lot!

Agreed. I've got 13 plate 4x4 and have had no clutch problems admittedly the mileage is only 17000
