Got a recall notice this morning.

FIAT PANDA RIGHT HAND DRIVE MODELS BODY COMPUTER-HEADLIGHTS TURNING OFF

Just one notice for our 2012 Pop, looks like our other two aren't involved.

Ref: R/2015/229

Typically, the service desk aren't taking calls and they'll ring back (hopefully before hell freezes, but I ain't holding my breath)

Lol im in for rattly dash under warranty on 17th feb 2 day job apparenty I'll ask about this then

We have received the same for our 2012 Twinair Lounge.

We don't drive the car much at night but have experienced the issue three times, twice, about a year ago, was in close succesion whilst driving, the lights went off momentarily for about a second on a dark lane. Quite disconcerting I can say.

The third time was about 3 weeks ago, the lights refused to come on when starting the car. No matter what we tried they stayed off. Left the car off for about a minute and restarted and all was well. I honestly thought it was just the horrible rotary stalk switch.

I scanned with Multiecuscan and no faults were recorded. At about the time of the first incidents, the stop/start stopped working, a blessing in disguise!

Im glad this has now been picked up as a recall but surprised its taken three years. I wonder how many accidents it has taken!

Tell me more about your rattly dash under warranty... mine rattles and is getting worse. Only seems to do it once the heater's warmed up, and I can stop it by just very lightly resting my hand on top of the dash, just left of centre. Is this what you are suffering (sounds like plastic parts rattling, maybe the heater ducts or controls) Does it at 30mph - very annoying. Mine is out of the original 2 year warranty and I wonder if the dealer can address this under the 3rd year deal...?

The VOSA link in the first post shows the recall is for Pandas built between 4th July 2011 and 17 April 2013 only, or with these VIN numbers: ZFA31200003000178 to ZFA31200003150183. That number, as well as on the metal plate hiding under the boot carpet is also etched into the windscreen on the passenger side lower corner (its easier to read it there)

It rattles towards the top centre at low speeds mostly under 20mph in town. They are having the car for 2 days on the 17th feb to investigate. Mine does it from starting and all the time except on main roads at speed. Not sure on 3rd year warranty as first car under warranty with fiat and only 19 months old. They fixed the flat spot in the acceleration from standstill with an engine update and reset everything. Also had a hummy/rorty throb on 3000 rpm under hard acceleration which turned out to be a lose pipe on the air con. It goes like stink now

Oh did try getting the other half to press everywhere on dash and nowhere worked on mine seems to be inside. Hence why they're taking the dash out to cure. I have read of a dealer on here somewhere who cured someones with the same problem but cant find it now.

Two of ours rattle, the Lounge does slightly when cold and a push forward on the head unit face stops it, but once warm air starts to come out of the heater, it shuts up.

Nothing (from the dash) on the 4x4.

The Pop is quite a bit louder and echos around the car, when warm it's less, but still quite loud, it's definitely a hollow sounding plastic rattle.

I notice the dash top on the Pop, towards each corner (screen and A pillars) is fairly loose, you can flex it down quite a way and it'll pop back up. The other two are quite solid when compared, perhaps that has something to do with it.

We've just had a recall notice,2012 Twinair Lounge, the headlights on ours occasionally cut out, when the l/h indicator is activated, not sure if this is the same thing or not:confused:.
Cheers,Graham

Hi. If you look through the forum (I'm sure my posts alone are all you'll need) I had the dash rattle and it took some effort to get the dealer to believe me but it was sorted and has been fine since.

That's really useful, thanks. My 4x4 TA is ZA31200003128000 - first reg'd 25/03/2013 - so within the range. Haven't had any recall letter (or any issues with the headlamps) but it's going in soon for its pre-first-MoT 36,000 mile service so I'll contact the dealer (Vospers in Exeter) beforehand.

Software update has been done, but they need to rip the dash out to sort the rattle and they can't do that until next week, so they can keep it until then.

There was some question over whether this comes under the warranty or not.
As it's over three and out of normal warranty, it was also bought used 4 months ago, their used car warranty only covers certain mechanical items, but the service manager was quick to add that sales have agreed to cover the cost.

I was waiting for a "but", though it never came!

Now it's time to sort the brakes out on the 4x4.
There's a "clonk" when I back up and put the brakes on.
It does it again when I first brake again going forward.
Sounds like the pads slapping in the calipers and it's getting louder.

Took my 4x4 TA into Vospers in Exeter today (bought car from them). Car is ZA31200003128000 (as earlier posting) - first reg'd 25/03/2013 - so well within the range indicated in the recall details. They insist that my car is not due for the recall and they think that it affects only certain models within the VIN range. Could be right as - I presume - the details of the software are model-dependent - but I'm only 95% convinced and I'd like to hear from other 4x4 owners.

My 4x4ta is March 2013, and not had a recall. Not had any headlight problems either though.
It's going in for service Monday. I'll ask about recall

My rattley dash was cured a few months after delivery. Mine rattled when it was cold and went away once heat was run through the heater.
It turned out to be a not tightened up properly heater matrix.
