Panda Cross - violated rear end

Some gym bunny ran into the back of the Panda tonight. Said she had wobbly legs after the treadmill

Mrs was stopped, it was at slow speed.

The only damage I can see is on the silver rear under guard bit.

Hopefully it'll polish out but if not, does anyone know if the silver trim bit is available separately?

The bumper does look modular, fingers crossed!

Cheers,

Simon

Re: Panda Cross - violated rear end

Sorry to hear this! Not worth a visit to dealer then? Insurance claim against the culprit?

Whatever happens, I'd rather it didn't get paint.

It's in for the first service next Friday so I will ask them to check it out.

I'll also inform the insurance tomorrow. **** happens. No interest in persecuting the culprit. Would rather minimise hassle too.

Good luck! I've had my Cross five days and I hope it stays clear of such incidents for a good while. Yours in T Green is nice!

Simon, I have good news - you can buy the silver trim separately.

This is an easy to get part - I guess there are a lot of gym bunnies out there! .

OEM ones list for about 125 incl VAT but shop4parts both keep them in stock and discount them.

I've seen aftermarket ones for less money, but no sense in going that route if you've got the gym bunnies number. I've posted the link in case it's of use to anyone.

OOPS - just noticed where I am - it's too early in the morning for me; I thought I was still in the 500 section!

That said, hopefully since Fiat sell the part separately for the 500, they'll do the same for the Panda Cross? I can't see anything on S4P, though, and I guess it'll likely cost a few more pennies.

Re: Panda Cross - violated rear end

Also sorry to hear this. You can do little about those who are behind you - one of the areas that troubles me about all this research into having children rear-facing in car seats for longer, but I digress!
Make sure you (or ideally a crash assessor) have a good nosey underneath the car and lift the boot carpets etc to look for any signs of creasing/damage. Seemingly minor shunts can sometimes cause future crash-performance (heaven forbid) impairing damage that's hidden out of sight. Crumple-zones are there for a reason.
Hope you're fixed-up and enjoying your Panda once more, soon!

Panda Cross - violated rear end

The silver skid panel is replaceable. It's 152 so 200 all in with fitting.

I have informed my insurers but they now use a claims management company who instantly go to Defcon 2.

Credit hire, medical assistance, damages the lot. In short, everything I hate about the current insurance world

Personally, I'd rather avoid a claim so should I just get the lady to pay for the repair?

There's no damage in the boot or anything. None of the panels or even the bumper have moved.

Thoughts please........

It's a new car Simon so it will always bug you if not right, I'd get the Bunny to cough up! She can claim if she wants. As an alternative to reduce the cost for her would one of those dent places be able to do an invisible repair?

The scratches have polished out, thankfully but the missing paint is still there.

I've just tried Halfords own aluminium touch up on it (rubbish match) & Halfords basic silver which was better.

I think I need to find a satin silver touch up & try that.

If it's close, I could probably live with it......

Panda Cross - violated rear end

Fairly minimal alright although annoying, might be a bit unfair to stick her for a new bumper for that, I'm sure a body shop could do a pretty good touch up though

Re: Panda Cross - violated rear end

Indeed. I'm not that sort of bloke either. I think I'll ask the dealership smart repairer.

The silver bit is held on by clips from behind so a replacement is easy.

A well thought out design then, what with it being modular.

200 supply & fit though.......

Bad news about the bump, annoying too.

I wouldn't get a smart repair done as in my opinion they are not as durable, and whilst look great once done, may not look so great 18 months down the line.

You may have shot yourself in the foot informing your insurers too, especially if you aren't going to make a claim. They will most likely (unfairly) consider you a higher risk now, so premiums may go up next time, and for the next five years you'll have to answer yes when they ask "have you been involved in any accidents, fault or non fault?"
Not totally sure though, as maybe the wording is "have you had an claims or convictions"

Istr that @Most Easterly Pandas is knowledgeable on insurance, maybe he can clarify?

No, as you say you normally these days have to declare incidents even if you're not at fault or the cost of the incident to the insurers was 0. We're still regretting phoning them after an incident in 2012. In future I'd have a good look around and think twice about informing them.

I wanted to log it just in case there's any unseen damage. It's being inspected on the 22nd as part of the service.

Re: Panda Cross - violated rear end

Smart repairer said the panel isn't painted so strongly advised against it.

New panel then. 200 for the young lady to pay.
