Wow, like if it wasn't for the super-bright DLRLs I would not have known a car was in the video.

Nice piece of wrapping, but faintly ridiculous.

Re: Panda 4X4 Camouflage.

I like that. I do wonder over insurance issues with this kind of stuff though?

A butcher opposite where I work has a Renault Kangoo which is totally covered in astro turf. I nearly hit him a few weeks ago driving through tight lanes. It was raining, a very dark day and he didn't have his lights on. Totally blended into the hedges. I did wonder if his insurance knows what he's done to his van, and how they'd react about paying out for him if there was a collision?

Re: Panda 4X4 Camouflage.

I can imagine that, if these wraps are made of tough-enough stuff, it'd be a mighty fine protection for the paint from thorn-scratches and light scuffs off-road?
(Actually think the camo really suits the Panda!)

I was going to make a remark about it being camouflaged to help the Italian army run away, but I won't, I'm not that mean and I've visiting next month!

One of my best friends - Google Capitano Ultimo - is in the Carabinieri - a branch of the Italian army. Tomorrow is the 22nd anniversary of his arresting Toto Riina - one of the Mafia's top villains - since when he has arrested numerous other capi and has lived under threat of revenge from the Mafia, spending half his life in a balaclava to prevent identification, protected by a squad of bodyguards (when the Italian government allows), and compromising his own life and that of his wife and two children. Please don't make this sort of sneering remark about the Italian army.

Re: Panda 4X4 Camouflage.

I wonder if any of the families of the survivors of Yekatit 12 would agree.

It's also well known Riina was sold out by his own, Provenzano did a deal to get him out of the way in exchange for something he had and this deal made a case it's in own right.

"Ultimo" and Mori were charged with consciously aiding and abetting the Mafia by leaving the scene unattended for 6 hours, by which time the place was empty.

Perhaps the balaclava isn't a bad idea.

The campaigns in Somalia, Ethiopia and Libya are a blot on the nation's and the army's history, but I'm not sure many countries come out of their imperial wars with a great deal of credit.

When you state that it's "well known"do you mean that it's one of the stories promulgated energetically by interested parties? The story of the three months of intensive investigation by Ultimo's team - including complete isolation from their families and colleagues - leading to Riina's arrest, is all together different. Ultimo and Mori were totally exonerated. When the Italian government voted to withdraw Ultimo's bodyguard - since reinstated - his colleagues in Sicily formed their own group of volunteers to protect him. The fact that he and Mori were trusted and befriended by the magistrates Falcone and Borsellino speaks volumes for their integrity, as does the very lengthy list of senior Mafiosi that Ultimo's arrested and continues to arrest. There is a current different case against Mori and we'll have to see what the verdict is. One of Ultimo's problems is that he's a maverick, who has always operated in an informal way with his men (and has a sparrow hawk in his office), which offends the stuffier elements above him, also he's arrested a lot of people who are prominent politically and commercially who have exerted influence against him.

As you say, thousands of years of warring and brutality has been shared by most nations/peoples. Best leave the past as another country and learn from it without repeating it.

Wonder if anyone's ever wrapped their car in tin foil for that 'Airstream' look.

I'd quite like to see 'Arctic' camo on the Panda 4x4. That might looks a little more chi chi.

Re: Panda 4X4 Camouflage.

It's well known that both the state and those close to the "family" can claim some credit for the arrest of Riina and more than strange that no side has come out and rubbished the others claims, only individually did they try to negate their own involvement.

This was back up by Mori when he admitted that there were open lines between the ROS and certain members and associates of the "family", (reported to be Vito Ciancimino as claimed by his son, Di Maggio as claimed by himself and Bernardo Provenzano, the one to have pinpointed his whereabouts)

Re: Panda 4X4 Camouflage.

I think we'd better leave it at that as it's becoming a two-way conversation. I respect your opinion but, as I said, Sergio de Caprio is a very close friend and I'm proud to contribute to the Volontari Capitano Ultimo charity that he heads.

And unrelated to the intricacies of Italian crime and crime fighting and all that...

I don't think I've seen a forum member vehicle with those squircle decals from the accessories brochure. I'll admit the theme is already abundant enough, but I think they would look great on red or white cars.
