Technical 500 towbar on Panda?

Thanks for that explanation. I'm thinking that the video I was watching on the Umbra Rimorchi website was for the 13 pin plug.

Based on what I've being commonly used here, I'll probably go for the round, 7 pin, but that's a fairly minor problem as it wouldn't be the first time I've had to wire up a plug.

I'm interested that you went for an aftermarket wiring kit. Is the Fiat one too expensive?

Thanks for the generous offer of the cone cutter. Sending it to Australia and then back again is probably overkill. It's also a tool that comes under the heading 'buy when needed' (I'm a bit of a tool junkie anyway).

Lots of people are recommending Thule and their carriers always get good reviews. Thule Australia carry a carrier that clips onto the towball and folds flat for a sensible price (so why are their products so expensive in the shops?). So I thought, 'buggerit', and sent them an email asking if they could supply a towbar and carrier. Be interesting to see what the reply is.

Well, Thule Australia's answer was 'we don't import towbars but will sell you a carrier at a much higher price than you can get them in the shops'. I didn't really expect a more useful reply but at least I won't feel bad about importing behind their backs.

PM sent.

I wouldn't be surprised if westfalia actually made the oem wiring kit for Fiat.
I think at the time I bought mine the aftermarket kits were easier to find than the Fiat one. Can't remember for sure though?

Interestingly, when I did the towbar on my VW van, the VW wiring kit was about £50 cheaper than the Westfalia aftermarket one. Inside the VW box though was the full Westfalia kit.

You've got to love the motor industry don't you, otherwise you'd go mad :bang:

I think I'm closing in on what I want to get, but the time of year is combining with my finances and registration being due in Jan, so I won't be buying until late February. Gives me plenty of time to keep looking. In the meantime, I need to get a bike working and I've addressed that problem by building another bike (y) Look for the thread, "The bike in the boot".
