Random climate control

I've come to the conclusion that the climate control in my Cross has a mind of its own, and not in a good way.

For example, take one typical day earlier this week...

I'm driving to Norwich from home, it's mid-morning and the sun is shining brightly, the external temp gauge is showing 16c, it's already really warm in the cabin, yet the CC is pumping out warm air for most of the journey (30 miles). By the end of the journey the cabin is uncomfortably stuffy.

Later that day, driving home at 20.30, the external temp gauge is showing 11c, it's decidedly chilly in the cabin, but the CC is pumping out cold air, even though the engine is fully warmed up.

As an experiment, I didn't reach for the temperature control and turn it up, and when I got home the CC was still pumping out cold air, and it was still chilly in the cabin.

At all times, the settings on the CC were unchanged, at 21c and Auto.

Is this normal, or is mine b*ggered? This is my 6th car (at least) with CC, and none of them have behaved so randomly.

Re: Random climate control

Could be the flap actuators out of alignment.

A flaw on the previous Panda & 500.

Do you leave it in auto?

Re: Random climate control

My cc also seems to have a mind of its own. When I take mine into the dealer for other issues, I'm wary of mentioning this because odds are they'll want to keep the car for an extended period to test the behavior, and repairing it might need the whole dash to come off.

Yes, unless I feel the need to override the auto settings because it gets too darned hot or cold - which rather defeats the object of having climate control!

(And no, I'm not just having hot flushes )

Re: Random climate control

Mine has been on auto set at 21 degrees since the day I bought it, way better than either the VRS or the Yeti, in fact I would go as far as saying it's the best aircon I have ever had.

Don't get me started on dual zone aircon, quite possibly the biggest con in the motoring world😤

Sounds like the temp sensor is knackered
