From what I was told while making an order for new Panda, it is £250 all in for 9,000 and 18,000 miles services (2 years). I haven't decided on this one yet but is that reasonable?

However, I wasn't given any details about what does the service plan includes.

Thanks, just looked up the manual, I was surprised to find that there is no consumables change (oil, other fluids, air filter, spark plugs etc) on 9K service, just mostly inspection checks so this made me to think £250 is quite expensive for what it is?

I guess I would have to ask for a quote on the first service.

EDIT: Double-checked the details, yes oil and engine change is necessary if it is yearly service.

Both our '14 plate Pandas are pre August, so both are 18k/24 month intervals, but that hasn't stopped the dealers chasing us for "Scheduled Manufacturers Service" after 12 months.

I got so fecked off with all the calls, emails and letters I told them to stuff it and told them they'll never be doing a service on either cars.
Both local dealers (we bought one for one and the other from the other) wanted £229 for the 1.2 and £289 for my TA 4x4 for services they didn't feckin' need yet!

My local Fiat specialist changed the oil and oil filters on both the other week for a few quid and at 24 months they'll service both to Fiat specs at £350 for both.

They are VAT registered, so no issues with warranties.

For first service?

Anyhow, from where I live (Western side of Northern Ireland), I don't think there is any Fiat specialist around here. I guess £250 for both services seems ok but I will find out more about that and see if they can squeeze in 3rd service for a little more.

As you say the first service is a little more than an oil and filter change and basic check over. But the 18k does have spark plugs and air filter.

So in conclusion, if you account for £100 for the first and £150 for the second (of your £250 quoted), I don't think it is too bad considering some of the horrendous quotes/charges others have had. Yes, you could get cheaper from an independent (as I do by sourcing genuine parts and letting them fit them) but you have that confidence that there are no arguments with warranty should it be required.

As far as the third service, at the time it is due your car is out (or expiring soon) of warranty anyway so would definitely go down the independent route, or use Fiat's 3+ (bronze/silver/gold) system if you are happy with the dealer.

It's a difficult one to be honest.

I would ask your dealership to provide you with something in writing to confirm what this £250 deal involves. I don't see how that first one can be worth any more than £50 if they are literally checking the car over without replacing anything.

So potentially number two would be worth say £200, which to be honest isn't bad given that all the filters, oil, spark plugs and brake fluid would need doing in year 2.

Agree that it doesn't sound terrible though!:)

True, although the first service will involve oil and filter change as it is yearly service and also I will request for air filter replacement as I live on quite dusty non-tarmac lane, especially in the summer.

I will find out more about the service plan and also a quote for 1st service.

Thanks for all your replies! (y)
