The tread pattern on those tyres is different from the ones on my Cross. I can't see from your photo what's actually written on your tyres, but they look like 'standard' Contis.

Yes, they are some sort of eco tires. Strange to see that on a cross. What about your rims?

You seem to have the standard 4x4 wheels, as opposed to the ones we get on the Cross in the UK.

In the UK, the 'normal' 4x4 Panda is supplied with 175/65 r15 Continental CrossContact Winter tyres (100% winter rated, see here: http://www.continental.no/www/dekk_til_no_no/themes/4x4/vinter/conticrosscontact-winter.html ) and the 4x4 Cross is supplied with 185/65 r15Goodyear Vector All season tyres. (image here http://www.goodyear.eu/uk_en/images/Vector-4-seasons_tcm2077-111866.png) - its because of the ever so slighty different tyre size, the Cross claims 6mm more ground clearance over the regular 4x4... same suspension, few mm more tyre diameter

The tyres in your photo are neither of these and look like normal, summer and on-road tyres?

Thanks, kind of dissapointed that I got Eco tires on the cross.. It is supposed to be a rugged offroader right?

I will ask the dealer, I should have no problem getting the standard rims and tires, but you never know..

All pics and vids i find of the Cross have the standard wheels. However, on the norwegian site, there is not much info on the cross other than "15" alloys". There is no pics either. And because of that I am thinking the pics from other countries should give me an indication on how the car looks. Hope it works out well :)

I think you should push for some proper multi-purpose tyres and having tried both the Goodyear 4Season Vectors and the Winter Cross-Contacts that came stock on my 4x4TA, I can confirm that both are superb. Whose stock looking summers on it now should be changed in my view.

The bits at the top of the windscreen do look suspiciously like City Brake Control as my windscreen (which does have CBC but not auto wipers) is identical, so as long as you haven't been charged for it, you should be happy I'd have thought!

Thanks. I do not like city brake control or any assisting stuff. Well, maybe ABS in a few scenarios. Love my old Mini Cooper for this ;-)

So if my windscreen looks like this, I have it? Or is it just not activated? Not sure if I want to test that future.

Regarding the tires, the dealer said they were sorry about the tires, they had the standard tires ordered because that is what they do on the 4x4. This is actually the first Cross in Norway.. Well if you do not count two imported Private.

However, they will order the Cross rims and M&S tires for me. I even asked for a conract on it, and that was ok.

Thanks for the help again :)

Do you use studded tyres in Norway in winter? I wonder whether that's why they supply them with summer tyres - do they assume that everyone will get a spare set of rims with studded tyres for the winter?

Around Oslo studded tires are not that common. Maybe 1/4 or 1/5 has studded tires. Having studded tires around Oslo cost about £200 per season in taxes, because they tear up asphalt dust.

Futher north studded tires is Normal.

To be honest, the dealer have no clue as to what they are doing. They can not decide to change the original cross wheels.. :bang:

Imagne buying a Nissan GTR, but the dealer ordered some normal 17" for you.. (n)

I'm surprised that the official importers in Norway haven't released a detailed specification for the Cross, including the wheels/tyres. After all, tyres are one of the most important elements of how well a 4x4 performs in difficult conditions. What tyres do the ordinary Panda 4x4s come fitted with in Norway? Also, I'd naively assumed that all Cross's come direct from the factory fitted with the larger wheels/tyres that HH specified in his post - it seems unnecessarily complicated to have different wheel/tyre combinations for different destinations.

Yes, I am also amazed by this. The tires is part of the Cross package.
Dealers in Norway are generally bad, here is my story:

The first salesperson i talked to said there was no such thing as a Panda Cross.
I had to show them their pricelist!!
Then I asked to get information about the differences between the 4x4 and the Cross.

As the sales person admited he had not heard of the car, he called the importer here in Norway, and then would call me back.

What he got was that the only difference was that the Cross has Hill Decent Control... I was spechless when I heard that. I showed him pictures and explained everything. And we agreed that a Cross in Norway had to be the same as everywhere else in the world.

Then I said that the pricelist for the cross was wrong, because it says 85hp, not 90 (TA). I asked him to check with the importer again. (Some BMW comes with less power in Norway due to taxes on HP, I was wondering if this was the same thing).

He called the importer again, the Cross comes with 85 bhp.. Not caring if it had 85 or 90 i ordered one. And now when I check the registration paper, it says 66.2KW.. that is 90hp.

Then there was all the small bits when I picked up the car:
You could the the tapemarks at the doors after cleaning.
I have not gotten the rubbermats, will pick them up on monday. He forgot to order that.
I have not got the GPS unit yet, he forgot to order that.
I have not got the winter tires, he forgot to order that.
I have not got the red Key, he forgot to order that.
And worst, eco tires on silver panda rims.
But then a bonus, I do have City Brake Assist, but it can be turned off. I like things that can be turned off.

The sales person was a trainee, and I do not blame him. He has been honest and kept me up to date with everything. It is the importer that lacks knowledge, maybe I should apply for a job there ;-)

My brother is a naturalised Norwegian, living in Voss - everything seems to be horrifyingly expensive there. The list of items that the salesman forgot seems depressingly long, though, as far as I know, the red key is no longer a Fiat item as it used to be. My Panda 4x4 TA (and my wife's MJ and 1.2, and my 100HP) came with just two keys, one with the remote function and one without.

I think red Fiat keys died out a long time back. Should be two keys, both black, one with and one without remote locking.

You could argue that the only mechanical difference is hill descent control - all the rest of the 4x4 system is identical to the 'normal' 4x4 (oh, and 5 bhp more) - but still, the dealer really should know his stuff.

Yes, one has remote, the other not. I know that. But I ordered the one with remote with red cover.

I also found out I miss the service book and the Cross manual, I only got the Panda and the 4x4 manual.

There are some more differences mechanicly with the Cross.
Hill Decent
the 4x4 option, I would think this is sligtly different than the ELD?
The car is lifted a few centimetres.
The Airintake is lifted

HDC is the only 'real' difference between Cross and normal 4x4. The Drive Control in Cross has 3 positions - Normal, Off-Road and HDC. Normal is the same as default in the 4x4, Cross Off-Road is the same as 4x4 with ELD selected (preps the early locking of the diff and pseudo cross-axle braking) and then you have HDC, which would be the same as power downhill braking, if the driver of a normal 4x4 could do it!!

Lifted ride-height is through the 185 tyres, as opposed to the stock 175's we get on the 4x4, but other than that they're the same.

Lifted air-intake is the same as the stock 4x4.

Apart from the looks, which I agree look excellent on the Cross and the front approach angle will be slightly better on the Cross too. Not much in it however, but useful none the less.

Just get those tyres sorted! How ironic that 4x4's in the UK come with full Winter spec tyres, yet you're being told that the stock 4x4 in snowy Norway comes on summers..... Gotta love Fiat!
