Hi,

I bought a set of genuine Fiat roof bars to fit 2012 onwards cars with the longitudinal bars.

However, on the Cross, there are no pre drilled holes in the back face of the longitudinal bars to accommodate the locating dimple studs.

Is it fair to say that the Cross needs special bars or should I look to drill the Longitudinal bars or grind off the locating stub dimples?

Some pictures to better explain what I'm on about:-

Thanks,

The Cross is unusual in that the factory roof rails are not flush fitting (like those on other post 2012 Pandas) but stand clear (more like the previous 2004-12 version) -- I wonder if the older model's bars fit?

I have opposite problem in that my Thule bars which fitted both my previous panda and the roof rails of my other car (which I still have) no longer work on the new one .

They "fit" apart from the dimples.

So, what to do?

Mark out & drill indents on the longitudinal bars?

Do I grind off the dimples & put a rubber backing on the rear grips?

Do I put them back on eBay or on here?

Gutted TBH. I have asked FIAT to comment on both their official Accessories & Panda Facebook pages :(

Can I echo what the Herts Hillstopper said, these are for the standard longitudinal bars, the cross ones sit proud of the roof more like the old panda ones & actually will be easier to find as thy are less car specific. This was actually one reason why i bought the cross over the standard 4x4. I've just put my thule ones on for longitudinal bars & they fit fine. I'd get rid of your old ones & search for some others.

These would be nice but very expensive!

What you need is the thule 757 foot pack or the older 755 foot pack system with either square aero or wing bars.

I also have a Thule bar and feet, but need to swap my 757 mounts for some appropriate for a 2012+ 4x4. (753 by the looks of things) Don't suppose anyone bought the wrong ones for their 169-model Panda and wants to swap?!

Would they be what I'm looking for to fit the Cross?

Fiat have confirmed they aren't compatible so I've politely suggested the update their literature.

Well, bought some diamond cutting disks for my Dremel, stripped the ends down & removed the dimples. Finished off with smooth grind stone attachment, some black paint & a cut to fit strip of duct tape.

Easy enough job, now fit properly(y)

Decided against drilling dimples in the bars:eek:
