I asked this question in another thread but thought I better not clogg up that thread

CALLING ALL 4X4, TREKKING PANDA 2012+ OWNERS:
How's your black door cladding and the rest of the visible black plastic bits holding up, looks wise.? Anyone treated their black bits from day one and have got themselves good results?
Is your paintwork looking like as it should? Any disappointed owners outthere?

CALLING ALL CANCAN RED PANDA OWNERS:
Hows your paint doing?
Am I correct in saying that CanCan Red is a new Red that came out with the Panda in 2012? I havent read about CanCan Red Panda owners being up in arms about the red changing to a sun bleached red after its third summer. I haven't seen any pictures of bad examples. People assuming that all modern fiat reds fade to a pink is like every narrow minded person assuming all fiats are rust buckets that spend more time being fixed than driving.
I think CanCan Red will do just fine. If, over time, it doesn't like the sun, then my one will be less bleached, as up here in Scotland, there's truely not that many boiling hot really sunny days during the summer.
Or we can do as elephants and hippos do, when it gets hot, go play in the muddy water and throw some earth over ourselves.

The trim on mine is still looking fine, the only issue with mine is that the trim on the rear drivers side has started to come off. I'll get them to stick it back down when it goes in for a service....

Mine's fine after 18 months and 15000 miles- just slight scuffing on the n/s paint
caused by a protruding tree branch in the Mendips :(

However, my Trekking's Cancan Red is Fortron protected, and gets a monthly
'free' wash at Hartwells, so it's a bit pampered :D

My cars are always red, but I never seem to keep one long enough for fading
to be an issue...

I think I need to pamper my cancan red panda when it arrives, so I may be asking you a few questions about Fortron & about your fiat red paint experiences. Is it cool to PM you at some point?

The black plastic mouldings and trim on my 2005 looked as good as new when I sold it this year - with nothing more than regular washing. And my 2013 4x4 at 11 months old looks like it will be the same. The days of black or dark grey bumpers going white are well behind us I think.

The Tisiano Red (or similar name) of my 2005 car was gently fading, but not really noticeable except in the door openings... and again, routine washing and nothing else. Since that was a two-part paint (ie with a clear gloss lacquer coat over the red paint) nothing I could do about that as all polish would do was damage the lacquer.

Don't think you'll need to worry, or do anything special, for many years to come.
