General Another Panda Cross ordered

General Another Panda Cross ordered

Well, I was quoted 12 weeks and it ended up being roughly half that. I could have had it Saturday but I was in the Lakes.

Very nippy this morning, heated windscreen (hard to see elements unless you concentrate) works well and the heated seats are perfectly judged, neither feeble or weld your booty Kellogs pop tart hot. Very early days (27 miles only) but nothing grates so far and plenty to smile about.

Noticed there are cut outs in the roof rails, wondering (hoping) they will be more than decorative.

Car is now status 16 :)

How long do we think then? Late January / early February as quoted or sooner:confused:

Excited:D

Ok Squaddie, lets work it out for you.
What was ur exact order date?
Add 36days. Thats how long bodwoppits took to be available for collection. It was 38 days from actual collection.
If the rest shadow this then I hope I get an offer for collection on the 2nd Dec. If I do then I have a day of work on the 4th Dec so lets hope I can have a fun day off.
The number of days will obviously increase as orders increase so my guess for you is very very late Dec.

Thanks.

The order was placed a week ago last Monday. The sales chap has been monitoring it for me & it became status 16 this morning.

So, what do we reckon the date will be? Will the fact I've thrown options at it extend the build I wonder?

Given the recent cold spell, so please I've ordered the winter pack & the non functioning heated driver's seat on my Brera is causing me back issues :(

So is that 8 days ago? Or 15days?
You changing the colour may delay it. What was the exact date in November you changed to green?
We all have chosen options for our cars. You chopping and changing may make it go to the back of the queue.
My car was status 16 for over a week! The day it changed to status20 was exactly 10days behind bogwoppits cross changing to status 20.
So you tell us what day it will arrive if it follows others exactly.

The colour change was confirmed on the 16th which was a Sunday so 17th for certain.

I actually paid the £500 refundable deposit on the 14th.

That's exactly 1month behind Bogwoppit. If fiat keep up this output rate then I think you could get a call to collect around 22nd/23rd Dec or maybe the day after boxing day.
What if it snows before then? The transporters carrying 4x4s will get stuck.

Status 16 is "build". At that point you can no longer change options & the robots are taking a tea break before doing something useful! ;)

Changing options shouldn't have delayed it - only cancelling and reordering will start the process again.

I can't remember how long the 4x4 stayed at 16 - a week or so I think, then suddenly it was thumbing a (slow) lift across the Atlantic ( :D ). This was when the 4x4 was first launched though & it took a couple of months to get to 16 - still delivered within the quoted timescale though to be fair to Fiat. (y)

Next step code 20 - BUILT!!!!

Are you still sweet sixteen?

I wonder how well the Cross is selling in the European markets its available in?
Fiat can only produce so many per quarter. If people are going mad for it in Italy, Switzerland & the UK etc then orders will start taking closer to the 12weeks. Obviously there must be plenty of UK sales from people who are not on this forum. (or maybe not).

Does anyone know the UK sales figures or UK registrations for the older Cross? And hows about for all versions of the 4x4 and the trekking. Does anyone know how to find this kind of info?

I did hear that the 4x4 is accounting for 25% of UK Panda sales, and the UK was the best market for it after Italy - hence why we got the Cross before most of the European markets. (y)

This I can well believe, when I picked up my Cross last Monday EVERY Panda on the forecourt (talking unregistered here) was either a 4x4, Cross or Trekking, didn't seem to be any 'normal' Panda's at all, must have been half a dozen at least maybe more.

I get the impression that the more extreme versions of the Panda have been a lucrative niche for Fiat, just look at the positive reception the Cross got at the NEC Classic show.

I can't wait for mine. Very excited. Most of my mates (and my wife) don't get it.

They can't understand why I'll grab the keys for an 85bhp TA 500 over a 260+ BHP V6 Alfa. They're fun, even without doing mental speeds.

They're funky too and classless (as in, they appeal to everyone). Small FIATs are just great:cool:(y)

Whereabouts are you? My local dealer (who claims he doesn't have any unregistered 4x4/Cross TAs showing on his system) is being annoyingly unhelpful about whether other dealers might have some.
