Is it common on 4x4 TA's to get a little crunch as you select reverse gear? This happens more often than not, and regardless of how many times I select the clutch/neutral etc.

I have had this happen - not sure how much extra there is spinning around in the 4x4 transmission, compared to the 2wd versions - the tickover can be on the fast side and you do need to floor the clutch pedal but I wouldn't say it's a persistent problem. If it's really unavoidable I'd take it to a Fiat dealer and encourage them to admit that the clutch is binding - probably due to an out-of-true clutch plate, though it could be to do with the splines on the gearbox input shaft. I did this with my 100HP a few years ago and it was replaced under warranty.
 
Are you sure that the car isn't moving? I get this if the car is moving slightly.
