Like many others here I have had the tailgate mechanism replaced and at present all is well. However, we find that with the head restraints raised to their highest level we have a secure area to transport our pet Tibetan. My concern is that some years ago (35 actually) I had a Retriever in the back of an MG Metro when the tailgate actually came fully open. Luckily it was in a quiet area and the mature dog just sat still but I am still haunted by what could have happened. Given the chequered history with the Panda tail gates has anyone had one actually come completely open. I believe this cannot happen with modern configurations but think it's worth asking the question.
