Hi Davren

That appears to be the pre 2012 model version from what I can see. I want the post 2012 one. Or have I missed it ?

Thanks

Phil

Re: 2012 onwards service manual

I's under warranty so why not let the dealership sort it out?

Yeah glovebox comes out, mind if removing dash as there are screws in the top (open) glovebox facing inwards towards you (2).

@philboo in my car it was the heater matrix that was rattling. One symptom was it only rattled when cold, and when the car warmed thermal expansion silenced it.

Last time they had it they couldn't hear it. Typically it's bad if going up a hill and the revs build. Sounds like the whole dash on the left is slightly loose.

Thought I'd try to narrow it down for the dealer to then look at ;-)

Re: 2012 onwards service manual

You will need to go back to your dealer and tell them to contact Fiat Technical, they will instruct the dealer as to what to do. (Is there another dealer you can go to?)

The other dealer I could go to is even worse. I bought my first FIAT 500 off them and said I'd never deal with them again as they were terrible. The worst garage I'd ever used. I even travelled to a further dealer to buy the current panda 4x4 over either of my more 'local' dealers as neither are great. When I had the rear brake squeak I had to officially complain to FIAT and left the car with them for 4 days (after them already having it for a day) before it was finally sorted. After all that it still took me a month to get my money back for the first day they looked at it as 'brakes aren't under warranty' they say.

Anyway, I've taken all the glove box out and had a good look. Every thing seems fine but I managed to get a passenger to help me while I drove around. Pushing the cross section above the open glove box/shelf area with a reasonable amount of force towards the front of the car seems to stop the noise.

I'm going to try and use a mirror to see if there's anything I can do but I it looks like it will be a dealer trip now.

I did notice that the bolts which hold the dash ? come from the external recess where the front door hinges attach to the body. There's two big bolts with large washers and a rubber/foam pad. I can turn the washer by hand on both side of the car so I don't suspect this out of the ordinary unless someone else can see what their car is like.

Sadly this forum sees comments like this daily, I have my views but maybe I will let them be known another time/day.

In the meantime drive the car and get a passenger to press the dashboard right by the windscreen in front of them and see if the noise stops.

After your suggestion I did get a passenger to push the top of the dash down near the base of the window and that also stops the knocking/rattle.

Do you know the cause ?

Phil

I do yes but unfortunately it's not my position to say, again I suggest you return to a dealership and request (no, demand!) Fiat technical are contacted. It's your car that you paid for and you want it repaired under the terms of warranty.

Hi. I called the dealer today and asked them contact fiat technical about my dashboard issue. I did this first thing and haven't heard back. I mentioned that I'd been told fiat technical know the cause of this and I want to book it in so need to know how long they want it for and do they need to order parts. Dealer response, did the person who told you to request we contact fiat technical tell you what it is ? Arghhhhhhhhh

Yep. I've just called them. Their master tech (their words) cannot find anything about panda dashboard rattles in any bulletins, etc. So we are back to, bring it in for us to listen too. As if I have hours to waste driving and sitting at a dealers. Some people do have a job to go to :-(
