Hello fellow Pandarers, we in the Panda (Classic) section are having a second jaunt around the Yorkshire Dales. An afternoon's drive on some of the country's best B-roads on Saturday 12th April, then a day's green-laning on Sunday 13th April.

Have a look at the event thread and please get in touch if you wish to join us

Well I wouldn't be too sure on that to be honest, it would be very interesting to see though! The new don't have as much ground clearance but they do have a clever 4x4 system.

Really? How much ground clearance did the original panda have?
I wish there were some off-road meets like the one in Yorkshire down south... :)
Maybe there is.....? :)

I'll look out for future meets to maybe put that to the test ( mines currently on order so cannot come out to play quite yet)

Hope it's a good turnout

Thanks for the well wishes, I am not sure on the exact difference in ride heights I will have to look into it. I know the majority of my classic panda 4x4 is high enough to avoid alot of obstacles but it's the rear diff that is closest to the floor yet collisions are avoidable if you drive on the rough stuff correctly :)

If you guys know some good green lanes further down south you should get a weekend organised and spread the word, I would come for sure :)

I'd love to have taken part in this, unfortunately I'm already away that weekend. Good luck to those attending and I'll look forward to seeing the pics :)

Just a quick update for all:-

If people are signing up and wanting to come but are worried about getting "kicked out" due to numbers please don't worry, we can run as many cars as we want on the green lanes on Sunday but if we have more than the allowed number we will split up into two groups with a gap in between. I have had a few questions about this.

ALSO if you have time, have a look at some of the action from the last event...

Day 1:- (Tarmac)

Day 2:- (4x2-friendly off-road)

Cheers

Just to let you all know there are still some spaces left for this event, we have had an event clash so some classic pandarers have pulled out which leaves space for any of you guys with the newer models to join us for a spot of green laning in the Yorkshire Dales :)

Please view the event thread listed at the start of this thread for more info.

Any insurance issues with events like this....
Never been on one yet so just curious

I don't recall seeing any exclusions in my policy - there's racing & rallying, but not offroading. Tbh you're not going to do anything to your car on Andy's events & certainly nothing to involve the insurance. Your biggest danger is grounding out (which a mk4 is unlikely to do & has protection anyway), and a scuff underneath won't involve the insurance.

It really isn't quick or dangerous & everyone helps out at any tricky bits (Andy guides you past any big rocks in tricky places). (y)

If you were daft enough to do something like drive into a tree (and you'd need to be REALLY daft), you wouldn't bother to say it was while offroading. Much like all the cars which break at Castle Combe and get pushed a mile down the road before calling the AA!

Just as I thought. Thanks for comments.

Hi there. I tried to email you direct but that obviously didn't work. I may be able to make the off road day in a 2013 4x4. If I can I'll post a note the day before.

Cheers. Malcolm

Hi there Malcolm,

You are more than welcome to join in! Sorry I have only just checked on this thread.

I will send you a PM

Plenty of space still available for this event if anyone else can make it :)

Hi Andy. Sorry I couldn't make this in the end. Had to get ready for trip to France and was installing a leisure battery and various other navigation mods. I might try and get up and do the route over the next couple of weeks. Hope it all went well.
