2014 Discounts

Hi all

Does anybody know what discounts Fiat will be offering in the new year? I've just come back from my local dealer, I was looking to order a new Panda TwinAir and he said he couldn't guarantee the 1000 that was being offered at the moment but if I were to hang on until the new year there may be better discounts available.
Is he winding me up?

Cheers Tom

Re: 2014 Discounts

Perhaps he wants you to help his targets for February /March? If you like a deal now I'd go for it, and if he thinks you may get more off later then push for it now. I have played the trick of claiming I've test driven something else I liked better a few times. Say you have driven a kia picanto or something and really liked it so it depends what he can offer you on a panda to sway you.

Re: 2014 Discounts

I'm not even sure that there's a discount available on the twin air at the moment. There's no sign of one online from Fiat. The only discount I can find is for the 1.2, so I'm thinking he may have tried to promise me something he couldn't actually give
He did sound genuine but then they're trained to sound convincing aren't they?
If the discount mysteriously disappears then I may leave it till the end of the month just out of spite

Cheers Tom

If you sign up for any current offer, he has to honour that even if the car is not delivered until next year. Perhaps he has met his 2013 quota and wants to move sales to 2014 to start the January target.

That was what I was thinking. I walked away feeling I'd been stitched up
I'll see what he says next week, if there's no discount I'll have another look around the other dealers. There's also Fiatsupasaver to check out too, last time I looked they were doing the twin air in easy trim for 8795

Cheers Tom

The panda is a full margin car for the dealers so discounts are there for you on the twin air. You should be able to get that car for near to the supersaver price if you dealer wants to play ball. If not, just order it from supersaver.
It's a proper fiat dealer, I've had a car from them and they were great.

Re: 2014 Discounts

Thanks for that gives me hope for next year. The Mrs did say that she got the impression that the salesman had the look in his eye that there was something he wanted to say but couldn't. She thought that the way he said " if I were you, I'd wait till the 2nd of Jan ", that he actually meant it and had our best interests at heart.
6 years ago when we bought our last Panda the salesman at the other dealership was really pleasant, as is the guy I've been dealing with. Is it possible that they're really putting an effort into shaking the old image that they used to have? I do understand that the dealerships needs to make a profit to survive, there's nothing wrong in that, it's just that the old reputation from many years ago still sticks in my mind. I'd be really happy if I'm worrying about this for no good reason. I'd much rather give my business to my local dealer over one with an internet front end that's based hundreds of miles away.
Fingers crossed anyway

Cheers Tom

Re: 2014 Discounts

Unlike the 500, depreciation on a new Panda will be substantial (see this post) and a decent discount off list price will help to cushion the blow.

Personally I'd need to see at least 2000 to consider a Panda; any less and I'd be looking at a different marque entirely.

I note and sympathise with the OP's comments on loyalty; it pains me to say it but the reality today is that this kind of loyalty is so last century. New cars are a commodity product which come to the UK by the shipload & the only practical difference between a car sourced locally and one bought 200 miles away for 1000 less is 1000. If it's faulty, you can take it to any Fiat dealer for in-warranty repairs and for anything else, IMHO you're far better off keeping as much distance between the car and the franchised dealer network as possible.

With any new car of any marque, there's always the possibility you might get a lemon, in which case, pragmatically, your best course of action is probably to get it patched up under warranty (the really bad ones rarely get fixed properly) & ditch it at the earliest opportunity; buying cheaply minimises your loss in the unlikely event this happens.

Getting a good one (and most are) is a lottery which you are just as likely to win, or lose, wherever you buy the car.

That is one plain, simple fact

Re: 2014 Discounts

I haven't personally used them, but Broadspeed do seem to offer some discounts as well via their website?

In addition, they also have a list of ex-demo cars in the UK which need to be shifted; you could do worse than to give them a ring and see if there is something that you are interested in?

Their website is very simple to use though, you won't find it hard to use.

Just had a look, 1059 discount at the moment.
My local dealer is due to get in touch tomorrow or Friday so I'll see what he can offer before making any decision

Dirty dogs.......

Just checked the list price for a new TwinAir in easy spec. It's gone up by 150 and there's an extra 10 for the Turquoise paint
Not had a call from the dealer either. Will give him a bell tomorrow to see what's going on.

Cheers Tom

The TA Easy is showing at 8795 on the Fiatsupasaver website. I'd tell your salesman that if he can't match that, you'll go elsewhere.
