Morning, Had my insurance renewal which was £169 with quote me happy. Pleasantly surprised that after years of steady rises it's gone down since last year.
I declined this though and got a quote through quidco linking to Aviva.
£180 (which is a little weird as their site says "insurance from £195" or something. Maybe they'll now say £180??)
£70 cashback through the quidco, so effectively £110.

I know the quote is based on risk dependent on location, age etc.
Got to be worth a look come renewal time.

Another tip is when you get a quote, they sometimes put you on a middle voluntary excess, say £350. Try reducing this as it may make zero difference to the quote. That happened both times over the last 2 years for me.

Cheers for the info mate!

Our renewal was £375; not legendary by any means but we have have an "at fault" bump in the past three years, plus my father-in-law is also insured on our car too, which adds a bit as he lives at a different address.

When you say about the excess, are you talking about Aviva specifically?

Aviva standard excss is 350. Can be as low as 150 or as high as 1050 customer choice

Well in the 40 mins since I posted, I've sorted out our insurance!

Went through the Quidco site which will guarantee either £35 or £40 cashback (can't remember exactly). Anyway, the quote to stick with AXA was just over £290 including a number of extras added on.

So all in all it should be just under £260 once the cash is paid in! Although will have to keep track of it I guess.

A good result though and one that I am very pleased about as I honestly thought I wouldn't be able to get it in under £300 this year.

the exact wording from Aviva is "the standard policy excess is £350".

It is standard and we ask if that is ok. If they have quotes from elsewhere it can be adjusted to match. They can also request it is lowered or raised by choice
