I've sussed it out.
The end caps just pull up from the screen ends and then you remove them.
Revealed are Allen bolts.
5 minute job to get them off.

No sorry, I just wanted them off so I can change the colour of my roof with the rails out of the way.

Nice one! Think they look sweet. I also like the matt purple wing mirror covers and purple hub caps that Fiat Accessories have for sale. My wife agrees they would look good with our blue car...

Really! 90 quid....is that from your local vehicle graphics company? I was wondering who I should go to. I am thinking of having a webasto folding sunroof too, this will be black of course so will tie in nicely.
Although I emailed 2 of their agents for info and prices over a week ago and have not heard from either - not promising!
Yes, vinyl , I'll remove the roof rails to make it a little easier for them.

Hmmm that's a point. That could scupper my webasto 400 sunroof idea too....
Just had a quote for black vinyl to roof & top of tailgate for £190....I've got to remove roof rails (no problem it seems??) AND the aerial otherwise there is join in the vinyl. Can it be removed??
Also can't decide of matt or gloss black would look best with orange.
Mind you its a nonstarter if the aerial can't be removed v easily!
You may have to lower the headlining to remove the antenna base.

I received the following when I enquired about Webasto roof for my 4x4 TA
" thanks for the email. the hollandia 400 does fit in your panada. i am waiting for webasto to give me a fitting time on your exact car. a rough guide is
hollandia 400 parts only £730 inc vat and postage , plus fitting which would be around 280 plus vat (if its a normal fit). if you would like to go ahead i can look into exact pricing for you. thanks stuart 01752 893368"
Another agent has quoted me significantly less but, being in Italy at the moment, I can't come up with the figure.
I got quite interested but the figures show that the actual opening is a lot shorter than the hole in the roof, so I'm not sure now. A good deal of the work is to compensate for removing the brace across the middle of the roof apparently.

I've had a quote from an agent in Sussex of £1170 total. Yes the actual hole is smaller than the total size as there is a fair bit of strength to be built back in. The opening is actually 640×620 according to the webasto website.
They should know better than remove any bracing / piece of metal from a 4x4 vehicle.
This car does not have a separate ladder frame, so all bracing matters and might be just enough as it is.
My guess is they just can't resist making a few quid and they wouldn't be the ones driving the vehicle anyway.
Or maybe they think the guys at Fiat are just stupid for not offering this option for the 4x4.

Good point. Have already decided to contact fiat before doing anything. Will report what they say.....
