I took some advice on this forum and you guys were right, I should be buying a better quality car rather than sticking with the Panda.

I would like to throw some hints or tips for those who are new and considering buying a twin air engine:
1. Bought vehicle new from Perrys, was delivered with bonnet marks of the rear edge. Check your vehicle if you are taking a new delivery.
2. Unusual noises at tick over, the engine has a distinctive tappet noise but it does start to get louder at around 2500 miles+.
3. Handbrake coating does come off
4. Steering feels little offset to the left
5. Noise while reversing, coming from clutch/components, was replaced at 1000 miles
6. Start & stop plays up, has been reported on this forum.
7. Turbo gasket blown
8. Poor radio signal on the move
9. Shock absorbers show signs of rust already, has been reported on this forum
10. Clutch pedal has clicking noise from mechanism
11. Driver's seat shows sign of crease at 3000 miles, have been reported before on this forum
12. Very poor fuel economy, is associated with the word twin air all the time!
13. Vibration through the cabin
14. Constant vibration pushes driver to drive car faster

All this was confirm by Fiat UK. For those who don't know this vehicle was on auto express. I even had a specialist fiat technician who came from fiat uk to test this vehicle. And from what I can recap from a lot of threads on this forum, lots of these faults has already been repeated before.

The car has been so far taken cared of. I was the only driver and vehicle was never thrashed. Always cleaned and wash/waxed with most expensive £8000 wax. Was wax oiled etc. I even had it carefully driven for the first 1000 miles. Just to go further, never even had food inside.

What I liked about this vehicle was the design, the dashboard made me smile every time I was behind the steering. Nice engine sound and great speed for a small engine. It has looks but in my opinion , it has lots of room for improvement.

I forgot to tell you guys that I'm getting a Renault Captur 900cc turbo inter cooled but with 3 cylinders.

Anyway , I wish you guys luck and I'll keep on with new members from time to time. Thank you all for being here.

I think you've been very unfortunate to have bought a "lemon" but any manufacturer can make one.

Personally I've only had a few problems.
1: a rattle from behind the dash when cold which was fixed 1st go at the dealers,
2: my stop/start occasionally wont restart. I've yet to leave the car with them to fix, but they will in the end.

The end.

Oh, and my mpg is getting better all the time, since last refill, comp has said 49mpg and that's 4x4 too which is less efficient than 4x2.
I would say though that if you are solely urban stop/start driving that the twin air will use the motion lotion up quickly. 1.2 is better by far. On the open road, ta is as good as if not better than 1.2

It does vibrate a little around 2k revs, but Mrs deeyup likes it, especially when the heated seats are turned on too. It doesn't bother me,. I think it's part of the charm of the 2 cyl motor.

Anyway, see you around Javnas. :peace:

Sorry to hear about your troubles, I am glad that you are now happy. Good luck with your Renault, mine was very troublesome and my brother-in-law's was worse, tbh I doubt that it's a move up the quality ladder, but the dealers may be better now?

No problems with mine so far, not even a rattle...only 1500 miles though

While I sympathise with your woes, I wouldn't tar all Fiats with the same brush, as if you go on any car make forum/club website you will find a minority of users that have had a REALLY BAD experience. That is not to say that your experience is in any way diminished but more that you are in the minority of owners with serious unresolved problems. I, for instance, bought my TA500C from the same dealer and have had a completely different experience, where the few niggles/faults I have had have been sorted promptly and conclusively. I think I should also add that the three Renaults I have had in the past have all been dogs, especially the Laguna 2.5D Auto that spent more time in the garage than on the road for the six months I had it (from new). I hope your Renault experience is better than mine or your Fiat one. (y)

Good luck with the Renault. I like the Captur and have it on my shortlist with the Panda. I understand that Renault quality is much improved these days, mainly due to the Nissan influence, and perhaps that is why they are able to offer a standard 4 year warranty. Let us know how you get on (or I'll have a look on the Captur Owners Club forum!).

Passed the 2000 mile mark on the 4x4 TA. Absolutely no issues so far. I have to say I'm a bit concerned about a Fiat that is so complex - for a Fiat. We'll see. I was similarly apprehensive about the 100hp when I bought it five years ago but it gave no problems whatever, apart from a clutch that was replaced under warranty after a few months - and that had nothing to do with the car's complexity. Currently 650 miles into a trip to Italy and I'll do an update when we arrive.
